Refuge Golf Club at Gulf State Park

A challenge with different grasses than I've been playing in Indiana. Large greens, putting rolls true and consistent from green to green. I recommend .

The staff both on and off course were extremely friendly and helpful. The course is very playable and has tees spaced properly apart to accommodate most handicap levels. We played the course in just over 4 hours.

We were disappointed with this course. The greens were in terrible shape. The greens had bare places and sand and mud in the middle of the green.

The greens are in critical condition. They are infested with a plant that makes your ball go off-line and slowdown dramatically. The roughs are really high and thick. If you happen to hit your ball into the rough you can kiss it goodbye.

Fairways ok, greens need work, not sure what there plan is but awful green conditions

SHOULD HAVE BEEN INFORMED OF AERIATION OF GREENS. ONLY 9 HOLES WAS OPEN. FAIRWAYS IN VERY GOOD SHAPE. THE GREENS: PUTTED BETTER THAN I EXPECTED. MY 1st. TIME PLAYING THERE. HOPE TO GO BACK AND PLAY THE BACK NINE "TWICE".

Pace of play painfully slow. Only saw the Marshall at the clubhouse and on the 10th fairway.

There were few cars in the parking lot, which I found odd for a Sunday morning. But according to the staff, that's the transition days for the condo rentals (arriving/leaving) so the weekends are usually slow. Good news for me! Nice layout of the course, but if you're in the rough, you are ROUGH! Nice course, I will be back.

I have played this course for years and usually the course has been in good condition. This time the course was appalling The greens were so tall the grass was bent over. Also, the greens looked like they had not been sprayed for weeds in a year or so. If you hit a ball a little out of the fairway you ended up in wait high weeds! I would not recommend playing the course unless they make some drastic changes!

My family comes here for 1 week every July . We usually play the course 4 or 5 times . With the cost going up there we were able to save 20 dollars each using golf now. . The only thing is that the earliest tee time thru golf now is 11:32 or so . It's very hot at that time of day so we only played it once this week . There were 3 guys playing ahead of us that slowed the pace down so much . They would pull up to each tee box and sit for several minutes before even getting on the tee box. A Marshall should have been monitoring this . It took almost 5 hours for the 2 of us to play . The greens were very fluffy and way too high . Slowest I've ever played . Overall it was an ok day ...

The course was nice to play on. Would have been easier to score if the greens were mowed. Really fluffy.

Greens were recently aerated so they were slow and bumpy. Nice layout and not surrounded by houses. Plenty of wildlife including alligators and a few snakes, so do go hunting your ball, just drop and move on.

Plays like the Bermuda greens I played as a teenager in the 80s-90's, slow and bumpy but not terrible. The layout and character of the course is very nice. Tough but fun!

Slow and large greens. Lots of trees which makes for a cool round.

First of all greens had just been areated. This was not stated on golf now and pro shop didn't say anything. Overall shape of course was poor. Very evident areas off the fairway haven't been maintained. Lots of dead grass in the fairways.
This used to be a nice public course. Never again.

Approx 50% of fairways were dried out. Greens just arreated and sanded heavily. Do not go here for another 2 weeks at least.
