Nice, straightforward and well kept course
We enjoyed our day at El Rio although it was windy (as usual in that area) and the pace of play was glacial due to a tournament ahead of us. The course was in good shape including the bunkers which were well groomed with a good amount of sand. The price was about right and, were it not for the wind, I would probably go back.
REALLY DISSAPOINTED
Staff was not friendly or accommodating, made me go get my own cart, after they had taken my clubs down to driving range.
Booked an early tee time and when I turned to play the back nine, they sent out a shotgun tournament with 92 players.
Not sure why they would put bookings on Golf Now when they had a tournament with 92 people.
I would not play course again if in the Laughlin area. When I finished there was no one around to take my cart or even asked how the round was. VERY TERRIBLE SERVICE
Great, relaxing and fun course to go with friends!
Had a boys weekend away with 5 other good friends. Looking for a course to have fun and enjoy the day golfing and El Rio was it!! We are all 10 to 20 handicap golfers and this course laid out perfect for what we were looking for. Staff was fabulous from the first phone call for reservations to seeing us out the door. They set us up with clubs, balls, tees and carts and were ready for us as we arrived. Pro Shop had all 6 of us all signed in, paid and to the driving range within 10 minutes. I"ve been to much more expensive courses and this has taken a lot longer.
Course was in decent shape and about what we expected. Greens and tee boxes were in good shape and well maintained. Fairways had some rough patches but nothing that affected score or experience negatively. Clubhouse bar and staff made the 19th hole an enjoyable experience to end the day. All in all would highly recommend to anyone looking for fun and relaxing golf experience with friends.
Great Course for Any Level of Golfer
Second time golfing here, the staff are excellent (best service at any golf course the first time, good second time too). BBQ running each day, burgers & hot dogs. No food service in restaurant/bar, but can buy beer there. We loved the course the first time (allow twosomes), liked it the second time but pace was slower due to group of 24 out ahead of us. Some water, excellent greens, we woudl return if ever in the area.
Nice but....
If your booking a tee time at this course do not be the first one out that day. This is the second time I've played the course and both times I've had to wait for the pro shop staff to arrive to pay my fees. He arrived about 20 minutes before tee time so we were outside for about 40 minutes. The maintenance staff was working away but they couldn't get into the pro shop/ snack bar area. No coffee either! Beautiful course otherwise.
Bad overseed
I had played this course previously and really enjoyed it. This time, course conditions were marginal and certainly not worth $75 pp. Overseed was not good, and most greens seemed not to have active growing grass, Very disappointed,
Windy
I've played Rio three times in January and each day is windier than the next. Be prepared for tight lies everywhere on the course. The greens are okay except where the waterfowl have fouled up everything. Lots of roll on the fairways. A couple of greens [#17 comes to mind] are sadistically warped. At $35, including cart, it is a bargain. At $45, not so much.
Great afternoon rate! Open fairways...
Hard to complain about anything for the rate I paid. For less than a cart rental fee in Canada I got the cart, range balls and 18 holes of golf. One course condition were the greens were patchy in areas (not bad for January), but fast. Course quite open of the tee and lots of open desert if the driver wasn't working. Nice afternoon in Arizona...
Nice Course but no discounts anymore
This course is nice to play if the price is right. If you pay their full price, definitely overpriced. Unfortunately, they no longer even have a working website. It has been this way since the first of January. They also told me that they have dropped golfnow. That is a travesty as far as I am concerned. I am a senior citizen on a fixed budget. Without discounted golf available from golfnow and others, I would not be able to play as often as I like. Since their course is quite empty every time I drive by, I wonder why they would give up their relationship with golfnow. It seems to me they would rather have some golfers at discounted prices than zero at full price. Sorry to have to stop playing this course due to cost.
nice course
This is a nice course. Fairways and greens were in very good shape. The greens are fast compared to what I'm used to in Wisconsin. Fairways maybe a little narrower than average. Fairways & greens only are irrigated. The rough is desert.
it was a good time, would play again, good value for the money
had a great time, people are friendly course was fun
nice round of golf
late start on booking but no problems. hour and a half from internet to course. A bit slow due to many snowbirds already but still a decent pace. Course is in nice condition greens look fast but are a bit slow. Looking forward to playing here again
This course was in great shape.
I thoroughly enjoyed the course - fairways in great shape but watch out for the greens as they are fast.
Fair but challenging
Course was a good deal on your site, however, I would be reluctant to pay full fare for this course.
Under repair
Went to play this week and got a surprise, course is now closed until further notice, Recent rain and flash flooding probably caused erosion, could not see work in progress and and am uncertain when repairs will begin. Did see fairways being watered.
great day.
A very well maintained desert course with a mix of difficult water holes. The greens hold well and roll good.
Great shape!
The course was well maintained and the greens ran true. Hardly any others playing which made for a quick 18!
The course was well maintained and ejoyable to play
Would highly recommend playing this golf course. The staff was helpful and each cart had a GPS system.
