CCGV
We were put into a shotgun start tournament.
Although, we did not want to be in a shotgun start. We were led to believe we were playing a normal round.
At the turn, we were not allowed to purchase beer at the bar. Because we were not members.
If you're going to open your country Club to the general public, you need to treat them more fairly.
the course is in great shape. moves right along
Good shape fairways are a little brown but most of the course are in southern AZ
Country Club of Green Valley
Shot gun start was nice for pace of play. Most greens are very nice. Staff and members we met were friendly and polite. Members only in the bar, so couldn't sit and have a drink.
Fairways were OK, bunkers good, carts in good shape. What a nice lay out for walking, though!
very nice course
Course is in great shape. Fun to play. good value for the money
Playability
I enjoy CC of GV for its playability for golfers of all ages and abilities. Fairways are plenty green for February, and the greens are decent for this early. I have always enjoyed my playing partners, which is important for one who signs up as a single. Cost is not bad either.
Enjoyed playing this course!
The course was in great condition and pace of play was very good! Overall a very good experience. No complaints!
Wonderful Experience - Great Course
My wife and I are recent retirees and always believed we were "Florida" people but decided to spend the winter in Green Valley on friends recommendation. We were looking for a golf course with seasonal memberships as we play 5-6 times a week and decided to play a trial round at CC of Green Valley. We were paired with a couple who are members and were welcomed at every turn by everyone we encountered. After playing several other area courses we decided to join and couldn't be happier. The course is challenging and difficult to play to your handicap, but won't beat you up. It is excellently maintained by the staff and volunteers from the membership. Great practice facility and fantastic value. Again we thought we were "Florida" people, but have just purchased a house on the 10th fairway. Daily shotgun start at 8:30am and 1pm ensures you can play on short notice.
Course has fast greens
Very nice course, difficult to find your way around if not paying attention to the signs (next hole). Crossed a street several times back and forth. I liked the shotgun start in the morning.
Good Greens for January
Most of the Greens were quick, and true. There were a couple that have new sand to repair problem areas. We had a frost delay impacting the start. Paid for range balls but had very little time to get to the range, chipping area and putting so buying range balls was a waste.
The pace was quick with few players on this Saturday.
Average condition and good value
5 tee boxes. The course was overseeded and the Bermuda was already brown and the rye hadn't filled in yet. The greens were below average condition, some too long and others with damage from clubs and animals. The sand traps were perfect, as they have been in the past. I think I tried every one! There was vandalism to the green for the 1st hole and no one in the pro shop told us the hole was closed, but a member told us when we were on the 1st fairway. They had a temporary hole set up a few holes later, a short and in very poor condition par 3 to make up for the closed par 4. The employees were friendly but they assumed we played there and knew the procedures. they run 2 shotgun starts, 9am and 1pm and we weren't let off until 1:15 because of frost delay. The weather was unseasonably cool and that 15 minutes late start made it so cold and we had trouble finishing before dark. But with the Hot Deal of $30, it was a reasonably pleasant afternoon.
Great Round
Nice place and the course is in good shape! Great deal for the price.
Great Golf Day
Shotgun start in the morning, pace of play ideal (no one pushing or slowing us up).Haven't played greens so fast and smooth rolling in a long time. Fairways nice and green but with a few bare spots. Hits off the fairway stopped the ball quickly but grass not so tall you would lose your ball. I found it fun to hit balls out of the greenside bunkers, (actually sand in them)
Overall I would recommend Green Valley Country Club to anyone.
Good Value
2nd time playing course. Course in much improved condition. Fairways had many fewer bare spots.
NIce day of golf
Played non member shotgun. Pro shop is very friendly, Greens were good and true, and while course is not highly manicured, fairways had healthy grass. (Note, fairways recently hole punched...) Back 9 runs along the pecan groves, water comes into play on several holes. Back has some pretty vistas. For a course in the center of town, check it out if you have opportunity.
Tucson CC
Fun course in good condition. Greens in good shape but a little slow until the dew burned off.
Hidden Jewel
The course was in great shape. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I paired up with a couple and they were amazing. We had a great round and a lot of fun. The course is a very wonderful Hidden Jewel the one should give a try.
Will never play CC of Green Valley again
We researched this club with GolfNow reviews, and heard positive comments from a few locals. So we arrived excited for an enjoyable round. After warming up on the adequate practice facilities we were off to the first tee. During our round we often encountered under watered, scruffy fairways, hardpan rough, and frequent shots off dirt. The water features were sad looking, brown ponds with an occasional weathered artificial swan. The tee areas were often equipped with dried out ball washers and broken waste bins. There were few restrooms and we only found one water fountain. The cart paths were old cracked and potholed asphalt and very rough going. We would advise golfers to look elsewhere for a round in the Green Valley area.
Lack of water, large bare spots, needs money spent on facility.
This course has taken a large down turn since last winter season. The greens were good, but the fairways were dry, hard, and pulled down too tight.
Nice Course but expected more
Let me start by saying GVCC is a very nice course.. It wasn't quite as nice as I had seen it before or expected.. Overall the greens were in good shape and your putts rolled true. Some of the fairways must of been cut a little short because even though they seemed to be watered well they still were burnt off and plenty hard in places. The same can be said with some of the tee boxes.. The sand traps where very hard from being watered and then not raked. Since we are familiar with the area and this course just from living real close this was not the way we usually have seen it. Not sure why there seems to be a drop off of the condition of the course but maybe it's just that time of year.. We did take a friend with us and it was a little disappointing since this was the first time he ever played here and we had bragged it up a lot..
