Wigwam Resort - Gold Course
About
The Gold Course is one of three 18-hole courses offered at the Wigwam Resort, which was named one of Golf Magazine's "Silver Medal Resorts." Golf Digest cited the Gold Course as one of the best public courses in the state. Mature trees are present on all of the courses, as well as winding creeks that create water hazards, which come into play on several holes. There are also strategically placed sand bunkers present on the course. The rolling landscape of the course causes elevation changes that can affect shots. The Wigwam Resort facility also has a putting green and chipping area.

WigWam!
Weather, great course, good cold beer. Good staff. Excellent
Wigwam Gold course bliss
The gold course was true challenge on the greens. As expected they were quick and true to breaks. With the maturity of the course do your best to stay in the fairway or first cut to eliminate the challenge of the trees. Enjoy the day.
Tough course
Very difficult greens to hold and tough pin positions on day we played. Don’t play this course unless you are under 13 handicap. Great test of golf by one of the best architects of all time. Best value in Phoenix
Frank L.
as a resort course the parking and directions to the course somewhat confusing - the parking far from course , practice range , mats only- however the gold course was a very good challenge, fairways very good condition & greens excellent
Club drop off is lacking. Should have carts available for unloading. Lack of water in lakes looks bad. Other than that love the course.
Great conditions
My group was very impressed with wigwam gold. The course layout and conditions were excellent. A big challenge for me, a bogey golfer, and my friends, a little worse than bogey golfers. But not too difficult to run the experience.
The only issue we had was the group in front of us decided to eyeball every green like they were on the 72nd hole at the masters. It was hot, and the slow down (4-1/2 hour round) became irritating but didn’t detract from a great day.
Good track
Nice course. Conditions were very solid. Greens were rock hard but that’s due to a q school qualifier coming up. Totally understand the conditions. It was tough. But we knew it going in. Very good track
Perfect Day for Golf
We played the Gold course on a perfect day and had a blast. The "gold" tee boxes were a little beaten up, but overall the course is in great condition, especially the greens. Tough greens on the Gold course, but very enjoyable course. Pretty flat, but had mature trees and a little water that keep things interesting.
Good shape but expensive
Course was in good shape. It was tough to hold greens and pin placements were brutal. Wigwam, just like everywhere else in the Valley, is a little overpriced for what you get.
Worth playing
Lay of the land flat course defence is elevated greens surrounded with sand traps. I felt greens were a little more rounded than contoured with some difficult pin locations. Course in pretty good condition play was a little slow at times two in our group didn’t show up the same for group behind us and another two some behind that playing behind foursomes. We eventually asked two behind to join helped. Nothing spectacular but solid course. Is as reasonably priced as you can expect considering the price increases generally in phoenix area. I do not know costs associated to maintain courses in the valley but the huge increases are a lite bit too much.
Good day
Course basically flat greens elevated and a bit concaved balls from shorter clubs hold but longer irons tend to roll a ways. The greens are where the strokes can add up. It’s an ok golf track and was a reasonably priced. Based on what the costs are now in phoenix. Played the Gold course which I understand is the most difficult of 3. - 18’s
Go play it
Ok course
The golf course has very little elevation other than elevated greens that are a bit rounded. But well bunkered
Course is in fairly good condition nobody repairing ball divots but greens seemed to putt fairly well. If you can get a deal is good value.
Ready for the tour
A Canadian Tour event was upcoming for the Gold course so conditions were very good but tough. Rough was starting to get longer and greens were firm and fast. That probably helped slow play down a little bit as it took more time to play some difficult shots.
Beautiful and tough
Course was in outstanding condition preparing for the Canadian Tour qualifier and was correspondingly tough. Greens were firm and fast. Rough was up a bit and tees, fairways and greens were in great condition.
