Union Hills Golf & Country Club
About
The golf course at the Union Hills Country Club is a championship course with a traditional layout. The course has been named one of the Top Ten Private Courses in Arizona. The design features four lakes and two winding creeks that create water hazards that come into play on a few holes. There are also several sand bunkers present. Some of the golf course's greens are elevated and the fairways are average sized in width. The signature hole is the par-4 14th hole, which requires a carry over water. Union Hills Country Club also has a putting green and full driving range for golfers to use.

Better than expected!
We hadn’t golfed there before. We really enjoyed the course layout with mature trees and well kept fairways! Although amenities around building weren’t available, you could see it was once beautiful. We will be back!
Good value for the money
Decent course and priced right. Bunkers were pretty rough but overall the course was in good shape. Fairways and greens still a little hairy but will be good once they mow.
New Ownership, Poor Communication
This used to be a go to course for me however new ownership has some things to learn.
Upon arrival we learned it was Cart Path Only. Typically I will walk when this happens as it keeps the pace moving. Left my pull cart at home so that wasn’t an option. Also discovered the course was charging anyone who booked online the same rate to walk or ride.
Two issues already. Bad communication by not announcing it was path only and not giving a discount to walkers.
Next problem…Cart path only usually happens during overseeding which clearly wasn’t the case. This generally means you can drive on the rough so long as you aren’t traveling on the fairways. Not this time. The ranger had a fit when we had to leave the path to navigate around the beverage cart or drove through the rough. He claimed pre-emergent had been sprayed and we would kill the rough by driving in it.
It wasn’t a friendly conversation either.
Again, if that is really the case it should be communicated as such in advance. Would have been nice to know pre-emergent pesticides had been applied recently and would have clarified the path only rule.
Last issue…the rough hadn’t been cut in what seemed like months. Very thick which made it difficult to locate a ball inches off the fairway.
Hopefully the course will get back on track and the new owners will realize it isn’t Troon or TPC. Still a City/Muni Course that now has an Augusta mentality.
Union Hills CC
We arrived to find out is was Cart path only, should have been advised on this on Golf now with appropriate restriction warning but were not.
Also pace of play was extremely slow.
Good Deal
I've played Union Hills before and it's a nice course. Yes, there are some bare spots in the fairways but that's to be expected after the summer we experienced but the overall conditions were fine.
this course needs for TLC, I know its been sold to Palm brook. But it need some repair and care. Greens were good.
I would recommend this course if they would take care of it. i know its close to overseeding, but it was like this a few months ago but worse. i would play it more if the fairways were in great shape, but to many courses around them are much better. aka trail ridge , pebble brook deer Valley and Corte Bella .
green were in great condition. The rest of the course, pretty bad.
Excellent value for the money.
Play this course quite often when I come to town. Always in good shape and price is right.
Nice track, but definitely needs an upgrade. Tee boxes very problematic. Several tee boxes were sloped without a flat lie. Sand traps were mostly dirt. Greens held nicely and rolled consistently.
thank you for noticing!
new ownership is working hard to make the most critical things better. we started with the grass, the trees, the carts, and the indoor/outdoor bathroom. an eating area and new parking lot will be next. can't wait to have you back!
