About
Located in the metropolitan Phoenix area, the affordably priced Ken McDonald Golf Course is a championship-length course that is suitable for any level of golfer. The flat terrain of the course makes for an enjoyable stroll, while the water hazards that come into play on eight holes provide plenty of challenge. The water hazards are provided by the Western Canal, which flows directly through the golf course. Average Muni, Poor Ownership
This one must have changed hands recently. The quality of the course is low but they’re about to go into an over-seed so that’s understandable. The price is not worth it at the moment. They’re charging at least $20 too much. The beverage cart attendants are not friendly. Marshals aren’t doing much for pace of play. The quality and staff friendliness has really dropped off here. Another muni lost. Play somewhere else.
A Better Municipal GC, all things considered
Played this course for the first time in four years. Not much has changed, and that was actually a good thing. White tees add up to 6300+ yards, and my belief that the back nine is more challenging than the front nine was vindicated. I have many well- liked and appreciated holes, but the last two, #'s 17 & 18 are phenomenal. #17 is a short 308 par 4 that most golfers would find themselves putting for a bird. Then, 18 presents a 414 yard par 4 that is a score bustering demagogue. The practice areas are phenomenal. You can spend an entire day at this course and not regret it..
Good course for practice
I played there on the weekend after a long time and enjoy the pace, as well as the greens.
The fairways are pretty nice and the greens too, except for some dried grass in patches. But it could be due to fall season.
Thumbs up!
We liked the course and thouroughly enjoyed the afternoon
Good value
A good muni course and excellent breakfast. Normally things run smoothly but this tome I didn't get paired up on time putting me off for an hour.
GolfNow is not in sync with their T Times
Went on GolfNow and reserved a t time for an 18 holes. At the pro shop, I was told I signed for an 9 holes. My confirmation email from golf now clearly shows 18 holes.
Fun course
Neighborly but on hole 2 the maintenance guys were cutting grass in the middle of day which is fine but on that hole I could not hit drive shot, hit second shot or putt for birdie without serious interference from outside staff (occurred on hole 2) and I was even par after 1 playing two balls by myself with no in front or behind me(play). I found this experience to be off putting
