Course is in bad shape
Heard some golfers finishing their round with comments like "worst course in Northern California". Cart charges were $10.00 per player and Iwe should had just walked the course. Never again!!!
Lawns mowed
Greatly improvement in condition of fairways, lawns are mowed and squirrel holes are fewer
NEVER PLAY THIS COURSE!!!!'
THIS COURSE IS THE WORST COURSE I HAVE EVER PLAYED. THE COURSE CONDITIONS ARE TERRIBLE AND IS A BUNCH OF DEAD TALL GRASS AND THE GREENS ARE TERRIBLE AND LOOK LIKE THE ROUGH. THE STAFF IS UNFRIENDLY AND TRY TO GET MORE MONEY OUT OF YOU AFTER YOU BOOK A HOT DEAL. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. ITS BASICALLY A FIELD WITH FLAGS. GRASS IS TALL AMD DRY EVERYWHERE, INCLUDING GREENS, FAIRWAYS, AND EVEN THE TEES!!!! WORST COURSE WITH THE WORST STAFF AND MANAGMENT YOU WILL EVER GO TO
Horrendous!!!
It started with the beat up carts. There were no windshields. One of the carts did not even have a top!!! The windshield frames were just tied down, one even tied down to a fat twig! Had to look for balls after hitting them in the fairways because grass was so tall. Ended up playing for about 6 hours! The greens' grass were rough and dry. Very confusing signs to the next holes. Only positive was, we were not rushed because there were very few golfers. The old lady at the counter was pleasant. Perhaps too embarrassed of the place. Will never play here again even for free!!!
Surprised by course conditions
I have played out here before. Been about a year or so. I'm used to this place being really run down but this past Saturday I was very surprised by the course conditions. Can't honestly compare this place to any other local courses like Deer Ridge, Roddy Ranch or Brentwood Golf Club BUT, since the last time I played the greens have gotten much better. They seem to be cutting the fairway, rough & green on a more regular basis. Plus you can't beat the grass driving range! I went out there to strictly practice without expecting anything other than a dog track. Like I said, I was pleasantly surprised that I got more than I expected. Keep up the work Bethel, definitely a ways to go but nice improvement
beverly hillbilles
Wow were do I start.....Well I shot a perfect drive right down the middle but it took forever to find in the 5" grass in the fairway, they don't seem to mow them,Bunkers?well there were some at one time now there just mounds of weeds.Under new management so no beer yet either which you would certainly need to play this course. Our tee off fee was only 5.00,but the gas and time to get there wasn't worth it,I was very disappointed and wished we had stayed local. Most the greens were a brown dying grass, some were ok but very bumpy,I was certainly the most rural ranch style funky course I have ever or will ever play....very different, there was even a sevensome behind us....7 people playing together I had to laugh and thank god they were behind me.
Don't waste your time
Don't waste your time to play this course. With so many courses in the area not worth the time or money. I have played this course many times and this time the conditions had gone way down to the point that not even trying to keep the bunkers free of grass or sand in them. The fairways were mowed but the cut grass was so thick it was like hay left on the course.
Bethel Island
Course needs a total do over, greens were brown, fairways were not maintained. Bunkers were grass and not sand.
Not worth $5 to play
All the traps were grassed over, so there were no bunker hazards. All the greens were dried out, bumpy, and did not run true. The restaurant was closed so there was no food or drink available in the club house. There was a drink wagon that came by every hour on the course, though. Cheap round of golf, but not worth the time to drive to the course.
What a Mess
This course has had no food or Bar for over 5 months, when they changed ownership. There are absolutely no signs of improvements nor monies spent on the course or equipment since ownership change. There are no restrooms on the course, only 1 in clubhouse shared by maintenence, staff and golfers! I believe this course was purchased under false pretense although there is now a request on the door for an ABC license...only time will tell. The carts, only maybe 20 working, are held together with bailing wire, chunks of tree branch's and empty water or soda cans/bottles! and can usually only get 9 holes if that!
Needs some love
Greens were a little rough, bumpy and overgrown. Bunkers were overgrown with no sand. Worth the price for a nice walk.
You get what you pay for.
Very cheap. Got a GREAT deal. Course in terrible shape though. Badly mowed. Grass overrunning the sand traps. Most greens were browning. Wasn't annoyed with the terrible condition as I only paid $5. But still... Would I play it again? If I could get another $5 deal AND there were no other decent deals closer.... Probably. Would I recommend it? Only if you were close, didn't mind the poor shape and if the price were low enough.
Course condition
I used golf nor was supposed to get free cart? They charged 10.00 per player for cart!!!! I don't understand? Golf now or bethel islands fault??? Very Dissapointed!!
So sad
Mosquitoes super rough. Overgrown. Can't believe I had to pay $10 to walk and risk malaria. I survived the course. Actually made the best of it but hope that the "new" ownership can do something about the conditions. I actually used to have fun out there especially in the raining winter months. Probably the best conditions to play in when it rains.
Very Poor shape
Don't bother
very bad care to this old course that I liked in the past.
Greens ,fairways are like a cow pasture.
Value for money
Want a course to visit that won't break the bank! Choose Bethel Island!
Worst cousre in the area
The only reason I play this course is because my fiancé needs the practice. Horrible conditions but for $3 what do you expect
Terrible Course Conditions
This was by far the worst course I have every played. Nothing was maintained. The course was mainly dead grass and weeds. Bunkers had no sand and were just over grown with weeds. The greens were all weeds and had not been watered for several days at least. Fairways were rock hard and tee boxes hardly had any grass. Felt like we were playing golf in the middle of desert somewhere. Just lots of dirt and dead plants. Not worth the time or the money, no matter how cheap they offer may be. Will never be returning here and should not be listed on the site.
COURSE NEEDS LOTS OF GOLFERS SO THEY CAN FIX IT UP
COULD BE NICE, HOWEVER, NOT ENOUGH INCOME TO WARRENT SPENDING TO IMPROVE CONDITIONS..
