Worst Course Ever
Staying in Palm Springs we usually try to take in a non-desert course combining a visit to the Cabazon Outlet mall.
The greens were worse than temporary greens I have played on. It was like the tractors/mowers were too heavy for the greens and left tire ruts. The ball would change direction as it hit the ruts and was always bouncing rather than rolling.
If I were to play there again I would just take 2 putts and pick up the ball rather than take the frustration of playing the greens
The fairways were mainly patchy grass with lots of hard bare patches. The resulting bounces and rolls were very unpredictable.
On the front nine our foursome was behind a 5-some who were taking their putting seriously. We spent a lot of time waiting on the fairways and had play backing up behind us.
We have played Yuciapa for the last 4 years and wish we would have gone back there this year.
Interesting course, many doglegs & elevation changes
The restaurant staff & cart boy were very friendly. However, the gal that works in the pro shop is very Unfriendly...don't know why the course would allow this behavior as this person is representing the golf course! Not good PR...
waste of money.
fairways are non existent. the green set up is horrible. hard to recommend to someone.
Strange Doglegs
It had a few 90 degree doglegs that made it hard to judge the corners and distances the first time out.
fun
Always a fun and enjoyable play. Course is in reasonable shape, good for a fun round
Dogleg city!
Fun course! Front nine is normal, good conditions and fairly easy then you get to that back nine... What a challenge! Doglegs all over the place, I joined a twosome that plays here all the time. I'm sure glad I did! There are a few holes I never wold have found the green if it weren't for them... but it's fun and any day golfing is better then anything else!
Spend a little more and go somewhere else
Everything about this course is old, tired and generally beat up.
Ok the positive side, the lady in the pro shop was very nice and accommodating.
Tee boxes, fairways and greens were all fairly beat up and one tee box in particular had zero grass; only sticks, twigs and junk.
No cart girl and not even water jugs on the course, only the occasional nasty looking water fountain.
I kinda liked the layout of the course and, on the majority of the holes, driver is too much as there are tons of doglegs and narrow fairways. So it's a nice course to dial in your irons and hybrid clubs. At $32 for a 11:07 tee time on a Saturday, I would have liked to spend a few more dollars and gone somewhere nicer. I wouldn't pay more than $25 for this course.
You Get What You Pay For...
This was the second time I played this course. The first time was about 20 years ago. I don't believe anything has been done to improve this course in the past 20 years. The one positive is that it is a decent value at $20-$25 for 18 holes. But remember, you get what you pay for... Greens were average to poor, depending on the specific green. My main complaint was the poor condition of the fairways and the tee boxes. The grass was thin with a combination of dirt and weeds. You basically can't tell the fairways from the rough. There were a couple of holes that I found to be both challenging and interesting. However, hole #8 I found to be just plain silly. It is a 410+ yard dogleg right par 4 that has a HUGE tree about 240 yards off the tee - IN THE MIDDLE/RIGHT SIDE OF THE FAIRWAY. Unless you can hit your drive at least 250-260 yards (and keep it on the left edge of the fairway, you can't even go for the green on your second shot. And if you lay back far enough to hit your shot over the tree, you will be 200+ yards from the green - which doesn't help unless you can hit a 7-8 iron 200+ yards. With a HUGE infusion of cash to improve drainage and irrigation, level the tees, expand the greens, add sand to the bunkers, and seed, weed, and feed the entire course - this COULD be a very nice and interesting course. Right now it is a below average course at a below average price.
Good Value But...
This course is actually pretty challenging. There are a couple of hard doglegs
The condition of the course is not the best, the tee boxes are in bad shape as are the greens, which have a mixture of grasses, including crabgrass.
Despite being challenging and not in the best shape, the course is short and the greens are mainly straight so low scores can be had.
I paid $13.49 to play and shot a 92, which is not bad for a guy whose had 9 back surgeries,.so I can't complain.
I like the course and the challenge it presents and will play here again for sure.
9/6/15 calimesa
Course is in good shape. They have done lots of improvements to the course over the last year.
GOOD FEATURES
THIS CURSE PLAYED VERY GOOD NO PRESSURE GREEN WAS GOOD FAIRWAYS WAS GREEN VERY GOOD COURSE.
COURSE NEVER BETTER
Played Thursday 9 o'clock. Have never seen the greens in better condition. Fairways not bad either. Not the easiest walking course in the area but at least most of the uphill holes come early in the round. $15 to walk for seniors. On the downside though - you will run into 5-somes. Even saw a 6-some once.
I Value and a Class A club
We went out to play the course in July 2015 and really enjoyed the whole experience. We had fun and other players playing in front of us and behind us had a good pace of play. I can't comment on the food and beverage because we haven't stayed for lunch but it is on our list to do next time.
The value of cost is great considering all the gold courses in the area. I think as the course goes threw it's changes you begin to see how much they do take care the fairways, greens, etc. The only comment I would say that can be improved is the Tee box placement of the markers to Tee off. Sometimes they are not in the right placement. Good course for beginners and handicap players alike. A beverage cart would add an element that would take the course to new heights. It would be a great asset to the club. Go out and enjoy this diamond in Calimesa.
Nice course
Great value for the money. Course was in good shape, but the greens were a bit slow for me. My only other issue were the doglegs on the first and last hole. Makes it almost impossible for the average golfer to make the green in regulation.
Overall though, a really fun course to play and I'll certainly return to play again.
Great course that far exceeded my expectation!
Had a great time with my friends. The course layout was amazing. Loved the fact that you were made to think on every hole in order to score well. Truly looking forward to my next round there.
Great
This coarse was a great surprise. I will play it again for sure. Fareways were in great shape, greens were well maintained and layout was challenging but not overly difficult.
1stntime and was pleased
First time playing here were some surprises right off the bat with 1st hole dogleg but over all course was well kept and challenging but very enjoyable will be back
GREENS WERE SANDED
Wish we knew ahead of time that the greens had been sanded the day before. At this time of the year, it is wise to call ahead and ask if just sanded. Other than that the course was enjoyable to play.
First time visitor.
A new course to add to the resume. Definitely the course for those who love doglegs. Plenty of them. Some doglegs practically turn as hard as 90 degrees. An overall descent course. Lots of blind shots, some elevation changes and different lie angles. Would recommend the visit to try for yourself. I could see myself playing it again. Average for its visual appeal. Forgiving on some holes; some parallel each other. Carts definitely show their wear. Greens in good shape, but slow. Descent range with some very experienced balls.
calimesa golf course
Very friendly and challenging course. Will play this course again.
Really? If there are improvements, I certainly didn't see them. Do you work for the course?
