Country Club for a Day
Oak Creek is a nice course. The day I played, the course was somewhat empty, and I got a great deal. The routing keeps it interesting with elevation changes, water hazards and arroyos. Choose your tees carefully as the blues and blacks play much tougher than the whites.
The course conditions were good, with a couple of exceptions. Some places in the fairways were cut pretty close, making for tight lies on approach shots. Same goes for some areas around the greens. Also, one bunker I found was wet to the point of being muddy. On the plus side, the greens were in great shape. Also, the sand in the fairway bunkers was not a fluffy as those green side, which gives you a fighting chance.
The greens are all large and have a lot of humps and bumps. Subtle, hard to read breaks abound. I had a couple putts that I totally misread.
Oak Creek is a nice track if you can get it for a reasonable price. Staff was attentive and friendly. They have a nice grill room. Overall, this is a nice place to spend a day.
Not up to Par
Course needs work; unkept rough & tight lies off fairways with very little green grass. Not worthy of $120. Pace of play 5 hours
Great shape and beautiful
Got a great deal on a Friday morning before work. Got out at 7:17 and was finished by 10:25.
Fairways were dormant and a wonderful gold color... not a bare patch to be seen anywhere. Greens rolled well and true. Looking forward to playing again as soon as I can.
Great course but overpriced
Played on a Sunday morning, rates were very expensive given the sub par conditions. I will say the greens were very good, but the rest of the course was dormant Bermuda that looked dead. Tough to pay top dollar for these conditions. Better options around for my less $.
Friendly staff & great setup; conditions well groomed
Very enjoyable GolfNow deal, afternoon 18. True rolls on all putts. Great fairways! Perfect day off and 3 birds to boot.
Solid course
Oak creek is a well designed and well bunkered course. There is no silly holes, but at the sane time, no real memorable holes either. The greens are well cared for, all the greens are well protected. The players have a difficulty in raking the bunkers, shameful. Tee boxes were in good shape. The pace of play is slow. Like the course, but don't love it.
Simply pleasant
Looked at other reviews before playing and I agree with most: course is great, perhaps a little dry but the greens are perfect. Full price is a bit too much, so look for a deal. Very nice facilities and good customer service. It was a pleasant place to play and is laid out in such a way as to insulate you from the busy roads and neighborhoods nearby. I would definitely play here again.
Great course and managment
I really enjoy this course, but don't play it often because of steep price. However, I got a great deal yesterday on line . Usually when you get such a great deal, they are trying to fill up a single player tee time, etc.. When we got to the starter, he told us that he paired up 4 single players ahead of us, and my wife and I could play as a twosome. Even as a twosome we never had to wait to tee off and finished in 4 1/2 hours. great course and managed well .
Course not in the best of shape
Course layout was great. I suppose all Tom Fazio course are like that. Pace of play was very slow and no marshals patrolling the course. Greens were perfect but tee to green not so much. Fringe areas were poorly maintained. $180.00 is way too much, I can play equivalent course pretty much anywhere for $50 to $60.
Happy I played
First time playing course. Got a good deal on Golf Now. Course was in good condition,. Course is wide open but difficult. Green were rolling really good. Enjoyed the course will play again on 1/14/18
In a Golf Channel Amateur tour.
Great course
Cart path only because of all the rain really slowed down play. The holes were volcano’s because they didn’t roll them. But I love the course.
Challenging Course
Oak Creek is a challenging yet very playable course. While it’s not a long course, it does require accuracy off the tee on every hole. Greens are particularly challenging with many undulations and fast speed. All in all a very nice course for the skilled golfer.
Great deal on Christmas
Oak Creek is usually $150 per round but they did a Christmas special in the morning for $66/round and it was awesome! played in 4 hours!!
Perfect winter golf
This is such a fair fun track. My son and myself made 8 birdies between the 2 of us because you throw darts into receptive greens that grab and reward the shot. Not common for most tracks this time of year.
Course not in great shape for winter
Oak Creek is a well laid out and beautiful course. When conditions are good, Spring Summer and Fall, the course is great. Winter conditions are not so good. It is dry and not so picturesque. Not worth the $150-$180 Green’s fee in Winter. Should be more like $80-$90. At least they should give you a bag of free practice balls for that price. The GPS on my cart didn’t work. That made my experience worse. Would still recommend playing there if you can get a discounted t-time.
Greens were Perfect
I really enjoy this course, and for the rare $70 rate you can't beat it! Course is in Great shape. The greens were punched about 5-6 weeks ago and were rolling really smoothly and fast (about an 11). Fairways were good as well, but the course was not as green as it usually is. Pace was good at just over 4 hours; not fast, but not slow either. Usually this course runs between $70-$135 so getting it for the low price of $70 made it an easy decision.
