PGA WEST Pete Dye Dunes Course

An underrated course among the 5 PGA west courses. Quite challenging from the black tee though. Very good pace of play. Condition not as good since the course is still recovering from the rain damage. Would definitely play it again.

The course was excellent condition and challenging for us. The play was extremely slow as carts had to stay on path which slowed the game down substantially. We were always waiting to take a shot for the group in front of us.

Unfortunately parts of the course still had flooding and therefore was cart path only. I have always enjoyed this track and look forward to returning when conditions are better.

makes you really think about your shots with a chance of forgiveness. course is in great shape. all the amenities are great.

Nice track for under $100, finally. We couldn’t figure out why ball washers didn’t exist on this classy course. More importantly, why no simple flower pots near fairway to mark 150 yards until gps arrives next Fall? Good starter but his game would be improved if he warned first timers of surprising o. B. To left on first two holes.
Bartender inside was a little snobby when I asked for water after 18 holes. Her response was, “There’s a water station outside down the steps”. I guess her thought was a glass of water or quick refill doesn’t come with a tip. More drinking water on course pls, every third hole maybe?

Not trying to beat up a great facility loaded mostly with great staff just trying to show a few opportunities for improvement. I was very happy to finally play anything at PGA West in La Quinta and I hope to play here again once I polish up my short game! Great course with small opportunities for improvements.

Great course great people good amenities rock hard greens. Will be back love PGA West.

I really enjoyed the course and great selection of tees to play from. My only negative is the new greens are sadistic, they won’t hold a shot coming in and they have extreme roll offs. My understanding is they are new and will improve over time

Course in great shape except for some rough and the driving range that were drowned during the winter rains. Greens are quick and diabolical.

Once again the practice facilities were closed. Only bathrooms are at 9th green. No on-course services except temporary table near 9th green. No attendants after round. Very hard greens. Several holes almost silly in their design.

Course layout is OK and as a lower single digit handicap I found it acceptable to play except for the greens. False fronts, roll offs, and the undulations on the green are too extreme. This would be OK except for the fact the greens were like hitting into a formica table top and you can’t run it in due to bunkering etc. It’s a target golf course. My wife REALLY disliked it. Nothing a couple million dollars and a D10 dozer couldn’t fix I suppose. Range/practice area was closed and there was no mention of that on Golf Now. I nicely asked to have my money refunded because of that and was told, “Oh well, too bad.” Overall I would not recommend this course. Go elsewhere. We won’t be back.

Course is in great condition given that the other course is submerged under water from recent storms. Was all cart path only but easy to follow. The course plays true to a Pete Dye course - relatively short but extremely difficult around the greens. Super interesting course and would highly recommend.

Staff is awesome and welcoming. Unfortunately it rained the week before so cart path only, range was closed, and part of the 18th fairway was flooded. This is definitely not a course you would wanna play when you're not warmed up. I'm also surprised there's not a screen showing yardages on the cart but it did have a nice speaker to play music. The course itself was links style and has a lot of rolling hills and undulations with false fronts on the greens. For the money I'd go with other courses that offer a little more amenities and don't have problems with draining rain water.

The layout of the course was wonderful, but the fairways were a little beaten up, but not really a problem. However, the greens were simply too difficult for the average golfer. Good shots to the green were not rewarded at all.
