Love this course
I played this course as a member of the Golf Team for 4 years. I love everything about Don Veller. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The gentlemen who come to pick up your bag from your car and drive you up are volunteers, treat them well! The course is always in pretty good shape considering the amount of play it gets! The restaurant also has great food.
Quality course
This course is always in great shape. The greens are always consistent and never have any issues.
Fun golf course. Greens were in great shape, fairways recently punched but coming in nicely. Enjoyed my round of golf.
Will definitely play this course again. With course knowledge, this course sets up well for some low scores.
Fun course to play.
The course was in good shape. Greens were tough to read as the breaks were not true and the grain played an effect on your roll.
This course is well maintained and I will definitely play here every chance I getp
The course layout, fairways and greens are exceptional
Amazingly well maintained for a public course. Phenomenal greens
I will definitely play this course again. A superb value for a well maintained course, having excellent greens, and very friendly staff. Good variety of clothing and accessories in the clubhouse and a great grill with good options for dining in or loading up on the turn
Even FSU doesn't play their own course......????
I saw a good star rating and reviews prior to playing here. I must say I was a little disappointed. The course layout isn't bad. There are some interesting holes. The conditions however are average muni all the way. Everything from patchy grass to so so greens, bad cart paths, humps, dips and holes hiding in the grass. The practice facilities are lacking at best. The staff was friendly, but aloof. It is fine if you can get a good price and want an average place to play, but don't get caught paying a premium for it. And yeah, I found out that FSU plays their matches at Southwood instead.....which by the way is a nice course and a very stern test designed by Freddie Couples. See my review on that course from the next day.
Seminole Golf Course is no longer a course just for FSU students.
If you haven't played Siminole Golf Course lately you should make a point to do so. The course's redesign with new greens and increased effort towards maintenance have really improved the course's layout and playability. For those of you who have not played Seminole, it offers wide receptive fairways lined sparingly by large trees with areas that make finding your ball and playing out an almost certainty. The greens roll very well and can be tricky with some of the pin placements. There are a few holes with strategically placed water hazards that require some thought but mostly the challenge of the course is its distance. There are 6 tee locations from which to choose. The course is very popular among the locals. It is no longer a golf course mostly play just by FSU students.
Well-manicured, but rather unexciting.
My partner and I booked a time for the two of us; the course paired us with a 3rd when we arrived. I know that is pretty standard, but as we are very average golfers, it was a little frustrating to be paired with someone much better than us (I'm sure it was extremely frustrating for him). I wish courses didn't do this. Other than that, the course was in great shape, really impressive. But I personally don't find this course terribly exciting, which is why I gave it a rating of Good.
Great value for the course
Seminole is in great shape for the winter and the value was great. The course is fun to play and is the Florida State U course. Will definitely play there again.
I've played here about five times over the past few years and this was by far the best shape the course has ever been in.
Great golf for the price. You wouldn't expect these great conditions for the price you pay.
SEMINOLE Tallahassee
Nice course and very nice people working in office and grill.
This course was outstanding
Great course, wide open with few outof bounds... Great for someone like me who sprays the ball some times. Well kept and not long waitiing.
Fast greens.
Large, fast greens with breaks galore. Generous fairways with pine tree borders. Excellent carts with GPS. Course is busy, particularly on Mon.& Wed. which are Senior Days with reduced fees. In fact the course fees were less than Golf Now discounted rates!
Fun, excellent shape, and affordable thanks to Golf Now.
FSU's Seminole Golf Course is a great layout for any skill level of player. Multiple sets of tees allow play at all skill levels and ages. Forgiving fairways that still require accurate shots, good contouring of the fairways, well maintained traps and water hazards and awesome fairly fast greens make this a track that anyone can enjoy.
Pristine Course
The greens are in perfect condition not one dead spot on any green and all the fairways and around the green are cut just like pro courses are.very happy with seminole and am playing again there next weekend as well.
The best course in Tallahassee!
Very nice course--the greens are excellent, pace of play was good, and friendly staff. I would strongly recommend this course.
It was a beautiful day and a very pleasant round of golf.
My son and I enjoyed another great round at Seminole. We really appreciate the great job they do with the fairways and greens. They are immaculate! Considering that it was a Saturday afternoon the pace of play was good. The staff is very courteous and attentive. We look forward to playing again.
Could you be more specific as to why the pro shop and cart staff were poor?
