Rocky Point Golf Course
About
Rocky Point Golf Course has one of the most interesting histories of any golf course in Florida. Originally opened in 1911 under the name f the Tampa Automobile Club, it was one of the first courses in the state. It closed in 1942 due to World War II. After being turned over to the city of Tampa for a mere $1, it reopened in 1954 as Rocky Point Golf Course. It is the closest golf course to Tampa International Airport, only a 15-minute drive away. The layout provides a fair challenge water hazards coming into play on 11 holes and sand bunkers strategically placed throughout. Rocky Point Golf Course's lakes are home to an abundance of wildlife and also serves as a bird sanctuary.

Decent round
A good course to get out with friends and knock some rust off. The course layout was fine but nondescript. It’s not a long course at all with a few very short Par 3s. Tee boxes and fairways were OK. Grass was a little bare in spots and chopped up. Greens rolled well despite fewer and fewer people fixing ballmarks these days. Price is very reasonable and staff was very friendly. Spacious clubhouse.
Great value
Course was a little wet after the rain the night before greens still kept speed and held shots into the green. Played in just over 3 hours with our 4 some.
Awesome hidden Gem
Very nice course with interesting layout, including water, bunkers and dog legs. Loved it!
Rocky Point.
Very slow play that wasn’t monitored. Waited at least 5-19 minutes each hole.
Good Day
The course is a nice layout, no major challenges but enough to be fun. The back 9 can be tricky( don’t try to over power the course 😁😁
Nice course for the money
Paid $36 to play here on a Tuesday hot deal. The course was in great shape for that price. Pace was decent. I tee’d off with one other guy and took us about 3 1/2 hours to play. Solid course. Will be back.
Pace was stop and go most of the day. Greens in good shape. Fun layout. Rough and cart paths need some TLC. Staff was very friendly, but even with a starter it was single, threesome, twosome, single, foursome and waiting on most tees. Good value for the money.
Should be a little more transparent about the greens
Greens were punched three days ago. There is a sign at the clubhouse stating that the prices reflect that, however I don’t think $50 for a midweek round on a subpar course is reflective of that at all. There is no worse feeling than booking online and paying good money only to show up at the course and see the greens are all garbage
