windy
Nice layout and clubhouse. Staff friendly. A few bare or damaged areas on fairways and greens. Wind was steady and unrelenting, which made course much harder than you would expect, given it's length. It would have been more fun on a less windy day.
Very good course in great shape excellent greens friendly staff. My only negative comment I don't think the course rates $109 US per person to play.
Just played it
Staff greeting and clubhouse staff were very friendly. Cart guy was at the curb waiting snd quickly had us loaded and on deck. We actually had a later tee time but arrived way early and they were very accommodating.
The course is a beautiful and challenging layout with many picturesque views of the ocean and Haleakala. Not sure if it was grounds maintenance or a local bug or vice but there were many brown patches on fairways and some greens. While the golfing surfaces were were not tip top they did play well and rolled true. Greens were fast. GN Hot Deal of $45.00 per person made this a great outing and easier to accept the les than perfect conditions. Had I paid full rate I’d have been ticked.
Beautiful and challenging venue
Had a wonderful time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The course is certainly challenging, particularly some of the holes playing into the wind. The greens need a little work. Overall, a fun day and I will play it again.
Bring your own
Bring your own clubs from the car. Nobody in sight.
Bring your own food. Apparently the cart ordering system doesn't work.
Bring your own aloha. It's nonexistent.
Solid
Layout and views are solid. Conditions are acceptable. Landscaping around the area is nice. Check out the Millhouse just west of the course for lunch.
Wind tunnel
Nice layout, set up is average challenging but actually becomes difficult when 30-40 miles per hour wind picks up and changes directions. Not too many bunkers or obstacles and the little ponds are cute and easily avoidable - until the winds kick up and the fun really begins. Locals tell me there is usually much more wind here than Kapalua and Walea. Plantation is still my favorite on this island but this course is the best wind tunnel testing of my knockdown shot.
Eye candy course
Golly. The plants, bushes, trees, flower beds were all manicured perfectly. That really enhanced the golf experience.. Views to water superb. Course challenging in a good way. Good value all around.
Fun Course but be prepared for wind
We played Kahili getting ready for Kapalu. It was ready a fun course to play but the wind taught us a lesson immediately, keep the ball down. My first drive looked great until the wind took it straight down. The views are amazing, you can see water on both sides of Maui. I would highly recommend it.
Great Course
Great course, technology and service. Use the "Fly Over " feature on the GPS for helpful tips on each hole as your dealing with the trade winds and will make your round enjoyable. Best value for the price for sure .
Rough Condition
We’ve played this course on the past but felt it was in pretty rough shape this time. They don’pair up twosomes and we were behind a foursome, so play was slow. The layout is nice and it has great views.
Nice layout
User friendly but tough greens to read , probably much better after you have played the course at least once.
Nothing special...
My wife and I are high-handicappers who only play a few times a year while on vacation. That said, when we are away, we like to play on nice courses. Respectfully, this is a glorified dog track. The greens were in good shape; the fairways not so much. Most of the holes were not interesting. The brochure (understandably, but not accurately) sells the course as being SO beautiful. It's not. I'd rather pay more, e.g. The Bay Course, and enjoy all that it offers. If you're looking for a bargain, this is fine, but nothing more.
Challenging course
This course is always on our list when we visit Maui. Love the layout and condition. Can get very windy in the afternoons. Greens will challenge you. The grass bends toward the sun as it moves across the sky; huge factor when assessing break and putt speed. Don't estimate break based only on the slope of the greens.
Challenging Course! Awesome staff!
The course actually would play fairly easy if it weren’t for the winds whipping off of the mountains. The wind definitely makes this beautiful course difficult to tame. Stunning ocean and mountain views on several holes. Beside the course its of, it seems as if the staff can’t do enough to make sure you’re satisfied. Even the brand new General Manager was our greeting the players. Definitely make you feel like a guest instead of just some person donating money and golf balls.
This course is good value for money
Not a lot of ways to get in trouble here as there are wide fairways and water features are navigatable. Of course the wind is always a factor and adds to the difficulty, but 133 from the whites seemed dead on. As a 12 handicap I quite enjoyed it and my playing partner who is closer to a 36 had fun. And isn't that the point? The breakfast was terrific and fast, and Ryan our server made sure everybody was looked after in a most friendly manner. I don't come here often but will certainly come back again. Cheers!
