getting better
getting better all the time the course was in good shape for this time of the year they have cut down several trees to let sunlight into the greens and putting sand in the bunkers the greens was in good shape a couple of rough place on a couple but should heal in the coming months still a great place to play
Had one helluva time
If you ever get a chance, ya gotta play this course. It was so crowded, they grouped me with 3 other golfers who were 2 brothers and a buddy. One brother just got out of the Coast Guard and wanted to show his buddy, who had never set foot on a course, how to play. Being fresh out of the Coast Guard and still in shape, this man was hitting 200yd lofts that also carried distance. Was wild watching him hit. The course was very well kept and layout was great but some cart rules were a little ridiculous considering it’s a State Park. But overall considering how good the layout was and how well kept the carts were and the GREAT the hospitality was it was definitely worth the price.
Great course
Great course and layout.. the staff were very friendly and helpful.
CRAPPY GREENS. POOR VALUE
I have played MOKH lots of times over the years. Fun layout, and some challenging shots and holes. Pace of play was very slow. 4 1/2+ hours. Not unheard of for a Sunday I suppose. My BIG complaint was the greens. EXTREMELY slow. Grass was very long and seemed it had mot been mowed in 3 or 4 days. (even though it ha not rained in over a week.) Lots of small dead patches made putting not fun at all. The ball didn't roll to the hole, it bounced there and screeched to a halt as though it was velcro. For a $45 course it was ridiculous. MOKY used to have some of the best greens around.
Not a bad course but could be better
My first time playing this course and a little disappointed. The greens were extremely long and soft, almost creating full fried egg divots when hitting greens on approach. Probably the slowest greens I have ever tried to putt on. The front nine was closed and of course there was no notification or warning when I booked my tee time online. The layout and hole design is nice but the course maintenance leaves something to be desired. Kentucky parks Department should put more money into maintaining these courses if they want to keep people coming back to play.
Always a good time
Always fun golfing at MOKH. Front 9 was closed due to work on the course so we played the back 9 twice. Just a fun and beautiful course to play. It’s Fall so the leaves are changing and falling so it was hard to find the ball sometimes. Even in the fairway. But, it’s still better than being at work.
My Old Kentucky Home State Park
They had us start on #10 and when we made the turn, I knew why. Had we started on number 1 and after a couple of holes, we would have left. The greens are horrible. The rough is so high even a little ways in and you cannot find your ball. There were some foursomes in front of us and the pro said they play almost every day. But they made it so bad having to wait on their matches and whatever. I have played this course several times in the past years, but I am sure we will not be going back.
Practice
Greens are not in good shape lots of dead places on them making putting difficult The rest of the course is ok, rough up a little
Clubhouse ok friendly and efficuent
Fix greens
Almost all the greens are dead on the front 9 the back 9 is better but not much. Course layout is fine have no problems with is but the greens for that price not worth it.
