Great value and great come back.
I grew up playing this course in the 80's. I watched it go from good to bad to now wow. The greens are in the best shape I have ever seen them. Very little damage from the winter unlike other courses. The owner put some much needed investment into the course and the $23 dollars I spent at 5:00, to play on a Friday to unwind was worth every penny. I played 27 holes, with a cart , and all the greens were in great shape.
I use to drive by the course and play up the street but I would highly recommend coming back and playing it again. The improvements to drainage and the new pro shop/ conference and wedding room is a huge plus. The greens are fast and the pace is just as quick.
Very forgiving course for players that want to work on their swing. Try it and you will see.
$5.00 special on Monday's for kids training league at 2pm is awesome my son is doing it!
Great teaching course and the staff is super friendly!
It Fills a Need in the Neighborhood
Prospect Hill is that friendly place in the neighborhood. I am sure many golfers from L-A started out playing there. I would bet many never left and have enjoyed hundreds, if not thousands, of rounds there. It is easily overlooked by those from outside of the immediate area in favor of the better known courses like Fox Ridge, Martindale or Spring Meadows. I enjoy Prospect Hill as that guilty little pleasure like a McDonalds double cheeseburger. Its good occasionally, but I may not like a steady diet of it. The holes on the front nine are a bit cramped and when it rains they are squishy. It is wide open and balls switch fairways regularly. The 6th is a good par 4 and the drivable 9th gives you options. The back night is tighter with many more trees and you do not see other golfers as much. The 12th tee sits atop a hill and you hit a big fade to the fairway below. The 16th is a sneaky par 4 that demands a big, accurate drive. PH will not be hosting any major opens, nor will it be making any Top 10 lists. That's alright though, it is just fine being that local place where people come to play their brand of golf. The staff is very friendly and the new clubhouse/function hall is a big upgrade. Prospect Hill will be there when you need it. Maybe after being beaten up one of the tougher courses down the street.
