Hickory Ridge Golf Course in Amherst is one of western Massachusetts' premier courses. It plays across a gently rolling landscape accented with mature tree that offers an especially scenic round in the fall thanks to the changing colors of the foliage. The course has some subtle contours but it is still pleasantly walkable and offers just enough of a challenge to appeal to low and high handicappers alike. The layout consists of an interesting variety of holes including some that are long, a few doglegs, and also some birdie opportunities. The golf course finishes with one of the area's most memorable holes. This long par 4 calls for an accurate tee shot in order to avoid the river on the left and the rough on the right. The challenges don't end there either with a second shot to a wide, elevated green protected by large, deep bunkers.

Good experience with Hot Deal.
Overall condition okay; tee boxes need leveling, greens very good. A couple odd holes and typical Cornish signature with tree in middle of fairway.

Interesting Course
We ran into league play and we were on time. Big back-up waited on every hole on the back! Couldn't wait to get out of there.....

The only thing missing on this golf course is yardage markers and to be better defined.

Poor customer service
Scheduled a tee time, cancelled due to weather. Course never once contacted me, drove all the way to the course to find this out. Called 10 times while on the drive over from NY and still have yet to even get a response. Poor customer service experience at its finest.

Nov. 1st golf
Considering the course received 7 inches of rain last 6 days it was decent. Back nine was only for walking. Very wet condition's and cold and raw. Greens were in good shape, fairways were wet. Lift and place was best way to play. The course is great with good conditions

good test of golf.have to move the ball because of doglegs.sometime didnt know where to hit the ball,not knowing the course.

Good course
Have played this course several times and have never been disappointed in the conditions and pace of play. The only negative was wanting to get lunch after the round and two of us sat at a table for 10+ minutes and were never acknowledged. There were two people waiting tables. While the girl was working hard, the young guy was on his phone and talking to some guys he knew. They walked in almost 10 minutes after us and sat at the table next to us .....and had beers within 60 seconds. Great course and great pro shop ....not so good bar area.

I really enjoy this course. Great condition challenging. Only to be disappointed by all Ted checkered flags. Would like to see trip colored (red checkered front pin, white/black center pin and blue/white back pin.) Found myself shooting at front pin placements when in middle or back of green.

Solid
There is nothing spectacular about Hickory Ridge but the course is fair and fun to play. Greens are in very good shape and the fairways and tees are fine. Nothing super memorable about any of the holes. Drive it, no fairway bunkers to really scare you, chase it, hit it again. If you can work the ball off the tee the course will be a little easier for you. This course is always crowded with college golf teams, members and the public. It moves along but be warned some people say it can be rather slow at certain times.

Friendly place
It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed the round. If we didn't hook up with someone who knew the course, it would have been difficult at times knowing where to hit the ball. Way too many goofy holes. Other than that , greens we OK, along with the filairways. Pace of play was very good and everyone was friendly.
