Raining
Played in the rain, afraid golf now would not give our money back if we didn’t play. Course was in great shape, played fast no one else was playing. Would Like to play again in better weather.
This course is quite unhospitable.
This course was OK, was not having a problem. Nothing spectacular, but everything was OK until we were approached by a Ranger to tell us that we were playing slow, even though we did not see a group in front of us or behind us the whole day. Was kind of surprised that he had asked us to speed up but OK, his course, his rules. But then two holes later he procedes again to tell us that we were playing too slow. At this point I checked the time and I saw we were on pace to do a two hour and 15 minute front, after pointing that out to the Ranger he said “well we like a two hour front and a two hour back”, which would make it a four hour round which I do not know of many places that really want to see that. And at 60 years old I have played a lot of courses. I questioned the Ranger, “why are you hassling us because I haven’t seen anyone in front of us or behind us yet today” and he told me that “the pro likes the foursomes to be right behind each other he does not like open gaps”, so, instead of having a nice round without seeing anyone, I now have to rush because the pro doesn’t like to see a gap. On a busy day not unreasonable, on a day like today totally ridiculous, actually I felt harassed. The reason I’m writing this is because once again once we made the turn the pro actually came out to tell us to hurry up again, three times within 45 minutes and I still haven’t seen anybody. These people are very full of themselves, he thinks he’s running Saint Andrews over there, I find the pro to be a bit of full of himself. The course is OK, like I said, quite un-hospitable. I would not recommend playing the course there are plenty of other nice ones in the area. Besides at $100 it is not the best bargain in town.
Cranberry Valley- an awesome vacation getaway!
Always a treat to include Cranberry Valley as a favorite Cape Cod vacation treat. If I lived in the area, it would be my home course!
Cranberry is the place to play
Everything about this course is 1st rate the layout the course conditions the staff and the food is spectacular... This is how a golf course is supposed to be run
Played crisp & Smooth
Beautiful course layout. Fun play , was my first time. Course staff was friendly. Greens & fairway were immaculate. Will be back again
Did not meet expectations
This course has a very fine reputation. It is known for being one of the nicest public courses on the cape. I had very high hopes that were quickly brought crashing down to earth. The conditions were average to below average, tee boxes were in very rough shape and greens were slow and covered in ball marks that looked like they hadn’t been fixed all year. A lot of burnt out patches in the fairways and rough. The pace was atrocious. We quit after over 4 hours on the 16th tee. The front 9 the starter allowed a member who was supposed to play with us join the group in front. We didn’t mind but they were ridiculously slow. They were older gentlemen but did not allow us, a twosome in a cart, play through their foursome who were walking. The starter or the ranger should have had them pick it up or let us go through. There were at least 4 holes between them and the group in front of them yet no word from any of the staff. The staff were friendly and the restaurant seemed nice. I have played many of the public courses on the cape in the last few weeks and this is by far my least favorite. For almost a $100 round you can get better value at the municipal courses in neighboring Dennis.
Excellent Public Cape Course
The course was in excellent shape, with soft greens from recent rain. Not super tough but tree lined fairways will challenge any wayward drive. Even from the tips, the course is not super long. Pace could have been quicker but still an overall great experience and would highly recommend.
Great food in the restaurant as well. Check this course out if you're looking to play on the Cape.
Best Public Course on Cape!
Best public golf course on Cape, hands down. They host many state championships, course is always in excellent shape. The biggest change in the last few years is the friendly staff. The starter was a retired golf course superintendent. The ranger (very personable and friendly) made us laugh every time we saw him with a joke or comment. The new restaurant (Hot Stove) is as good as it gets. Must play!
Nice course for the Cape
Very nice, challenging course especially for a public course on the Cape. Can be pretty tough from the back tees too, but for most golfers the white tees are more than sufficient and challenging. Quirky 18th hole with a double dog leg though. Driving range is first rate with great practice facilities. Clubhouse and pub are pretty good too and you don't have to be a golfer to have a decent lunch there either, very nice overall. Course is always in pretty nice shape too.
Best Value on Cape Cod
Cranberry Valley is a hidden gem! The course is very challenging from the tips but has tees for all skill levels. Course conditioning is excellent for a public course. Pace of play is generally decent, although on very crowded summer days it can be slow. The value is outstanding. There's a first-rate driving range, a terrific short-game practice area with two greens and bunkers, and a convenient putting green. The Bar and Grill (in season) offers genuinely interesting food at a very reasonable price. Cranberry valley is a must-play.
