Course is a great value
Course is one of the best public courses in the Merrimack Valley. The course was in Excellent condition with lush green fairways and fast and fast greens. The only drawback is that it does not have a practice range. Otherwise A-plus
Unique Course in Massachusetts
A unique layout, high on some hills, with most of the course down below. Beautiful vistas, especially in the fall and in the late afternoon. Fairly short course but undulating fairways and raised green complexes add a degree of difficulty. It was a pleasure to play the course. If you play the back tees, the course would be more challenging, but still fair and enjoyable.
Good
Could use a good sign where it’s the clubhouse.
Great course, great value, but terrible pace of play
Played course recently. It's a beautiful course with great amenities. But took us over 6 HOURS to play the course, waited at every tee box, and no ranger to speed up the pace of play. Would want to play again, but the pace of play makes me scared to come and play again.
Starter needs lessons in etiquette
I arrived on time, along with my group. I checked in with the starter 20 minutes before my tee time. I asked if things were on time because there were a lot of people bunched up at the club house, he told me that they were running maybe 5 minutes behind. I told him to call me when it was my time to go. He called out our name about 5 minutes after our tee time and we proceeded to the first hole to tee off. He never directed us to any particular hole, so we naturally assumed #1. When we came in after the ninth hole I grabbed a snack and when I came back out the other three people in my group complained that the same starter got very agitated and unprofessional with them because we were supposed to to tee off on #10. The people in my party told him that you never told us to tee off on 10. He proceeded to insult them saying didn't you see everybody else who was doing 18 going off on 10. They said back to him that you never told us where to go and we just assumed that we were going off on 1 plus how do we know if other groups are playing 9 or 18. Shouldn't have to drop $70x4 of our earned money for that type of service.
Nostalgic revisit
In the mid 80's I went sledding there as a kid on a toboggon with my family. I golf about 30 times a year or so and hadn't yet played the course. I was pleasantly greeted by one of the owners in the Pro shop and had a nice conversation. Once I got out on the course; the conditions were immaculate. The fairways were carpet and the water throughout the course is challenging, but not unforgiving. Look forward to playing there again.
Seriously overbooked
I booked for 3 p.m. on a Sunday and teed off at 3:20 after I was paired up with a twosome scheduled ahead of me. The front 9 took almost 3 hours. Staffers were all friendly, but if I play here again, I'll see what it's like on a weekday. It's an interesting layout -- not long, but not for beginners, with challenges presented by fairly narrow fairways, uneven lies and elevation changes on many approach shots, a few forced carries, and large undulating greens. My only significant complaint about conditions was lack of sand in the bunkers (which apparently none of the players ever rakes).
