Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Massachusetts (2018 #18)
Reviews
Tight course, small greens, blind shots.
This course is crammed into what seems to be a small space. A little too tight for me, you hit over other people playing another hole, a bit dangerous. Some holes appear to be stuck in places you normally would not have them. Some holes are difficult to see where to hit the ball, you must play this a couple of times to get the feel of it.
The conditions are good, it is a challenge because you must place your shots and you are not sure where your ball landed as you cannot see.
Great Value and Dedicated on hand Owners
I have played Quail Hollow a few times over the last few years. The course conditions continue to get better and better. Why? Because they have on hand Owners who care and it shows.
I love the elevated tees that they have on a few of the holes as you watch your drive make it's way down the fairway. The greens were in very nice condition. You can always look foward to an enjoyable experience when you play Quail Hollow.
Great Course
This is really a diamond in the ruff. The course was in great shape.I and about 90 other people from our group called the Safari Club totally enjoyed this course. The owners and staff treated us special we are looking forward to playing there again soon.

This is a fantastic course.
I am with a group called the Safari Club. #29
This is a course that i really enjoyed playing. The course was in excellent shape. The owners and workers there treated us great.I am looking forward to playing there again soon.
A Hidden Special Place
Quail Hollow is a fun course with a lot of character. Along with about 90 other Safarians from the Safari Club, we were challenged with this layout. Huge elevation differences with only 4 holes entirely on the level. Greens were in perfect shape, but from the fairways or tees, it was difficult to see the severe slopes of the greens. Putting was a true challenge with the sloping greens. Conditions were very good..Althought the length was shorter than most courses, longer hitters would still love this course. I will be back again
Best kept secret in the Bay State
Quail Hollow is undeniably one of the best kept secrets in the Bay State. Not a long course, but it's got plenty of challenges to offer, even for those with more ego than talent. One thing for sure, at the end of the day you'll most likely share one thing in common with over four-score of Safarians that played there recently...you'll have had a LOT of fun. This may not be as high priced a venue as some other courses in central Mass, but it'll hold it's own on condition (fantastic greens) and play ability with courses that charge twice as much to play. Do yourself a favor and play this golf course.
Nice surprise
Another wonderful Safari golf club event at a diamond in the rough. Every club in the bag will be used at this well maintained course. Greens were fairly fast but rolled true. Course offers good chances for birdies. Nice views throughout the course. Very good value too.
Very pleasantly surprised!!
I just played this course with the Safari club yesterday. To be honest, I was not optimistic about what I would find based on the incredibly low price. I can't tell you how nice this course is. The greens were fast and challenging, and the tee boxes and fairways were very respectable. The layout is very different , and the holes are well marked. I felt like a was playing a top course in Vermont or New Hampshire. Incredible views from many holes, and they have some nice fall specials going on. My only criticism is that there was no water(drinking water) on the course. Given the heat and humidity, it was needed or a notice that there would be no coolers out. I will definitely play this course again!!
A Safari Club Favorite
I have played this track many times over the last dozen years or so and always enjoyed playing it, but after playing this course today I must say this it is in best shape we ever saw it in. If your looking for something to play in the area don't hesitate book a tee time and enjoy!
Great day of golf!
This was my first time here with the Safari club. The course is in great shape with wonderful views and the staff is friendly and accommodating. The greens can be challenging but the course is suitable for all skill levels. Will definitely be back!
Had a free -B
Nice course. The greens are somewhat challenging. Will play again.
On September 14th 2016 I played this course with the Safari Golf Associationo
This is a unique golf course very short holes on the front nine and very long holes on the back nine.
You basiclly need every club in your bag to play this course
The owners are very friendly and there food was excellent after the event
A Safari Club Favorite
Scenic, friendly and a challenging, fun course to play! The owners, Deb and Gary put their heart and soul into this little gem in Worcester County. Don't let the shorter distance fool you. This course plays longer than it seems but provides great opportunities for risk/reward! Be sure to enjoy their beautiful clubhouse overlooking the majestic mountains!
One of those Safari Club's 'Hidden Gem's'
The often used words of "hidden gem" couldn't describe this course better. Whether you're a scratch golfer or high handicapper Quail Hollow has the tees that will suit your game and a golf course that will offer you a challenge you're bound to appreciate.
This is one of those courses that you may also wish to seek out the owners and say hello. You'll quickly understand why Debi & Gary Donlin have earned such a popular and loyal following as they have from the Safari Club's vast membership. To put it fairly simple...they are just fantastic people that will make you feel both welcomed and appreciated.
Try Quail Hollow. It may seem like it's in the middle of nowhere, but it's really only an hour or so from most major population areas of southern New England and certainly worth the drive.
A gem
Located just northwest of Worcester, course is hilly and challenging. Beautiful rock formations add to the amazing views. 19th hole spacious, food excellent.
A very enjoyable outing with the Safari Club.
Diamond in the rough
Take a ride through the old mill towns of central MA, farm villages, rundown homesteads and rusted farm machinery, and somewhere in there is Oakham MA. In this little hamlet is a husband/wife owned gem of a course called Quail Hollow. This is a no frills course with every challenge imaginable, sloped fairways, uneven lies, forced carries over water and wildlife habitat. You must play this course once, with a guide, and pay attention to detail, and then you can play it and really enjoy it.
The drought has taken a toll in this area but these owners have made the best of conditions by taking care of the areas that matter to a golfer, the greens, approaches, and the tees.
I had the pleasure of playing this course with my friends in The Safari Club and I plan on returning and playing with a little more knowledge of the nuances of this fun course. I must also mention that the owners and staff were very gracious and accommodating, and prices were very reasonable.
