Course Overrated
This course has terrible greens, most were dry, limited turf in areas and down to numerous dirt spotting. Fairways were fair, has been hot but other courses around were not as dry as Pembroke.
Layout is good, but should not be rated a 4 star course
Not worth the price
Not worth the $90 unfortunately. Course has a lot of potential, but was disappointed with the overall conditions. Bunkers were inconsistent and a number of dead spots, especially around the greens. Even driving into the course, it just has a rundown appearance. I would like to play the course again because it’s a good challenge, but only if conditions improve or rates are reduced.
Disappointed
I played here a few weeks ago for the first time in many years it was okay, however when I played again on July 27th the first thing I noticed was the "Cart Path Only" signs were up again. There has been very little rain and the conditions did not require the cart path only rule. So I asked in the pro shop and at the starters booth the same question. Why? both answered that it was the superintendents order. This causes the slow pace of play and the course was in rough shape anyway. Greens were in bad condition all over. I was disappointed because I like this course but until the superintendent gets off this cart part only kick when the course is dry and by the way his staff was very gruff and the young kids at the pro shop and starters booth were very friendly and helpful.
Meh...
Early tee times can be a bit fickle but this was far more. I've grounds crew were not at all accommodating to golfers....a guy grinding in the bunker during our putts, a ride on mower literally 3 feet from us on an approach, watering the green on 17 while we're teeing off....the worst part? No notice before the round and no apology from this staff. If they gave us the heads up on a Friday morning, I'd have zero problem but that wasn't the case here. I'll probably play here again just because of the location but if there's time elsewhere I'm taking it.
Really gone down hill...
I have played this course for years and was sad to see how the new mgt has let the course really fall off. Pembroke was never a top notch course but it was a reasonable price and open lay out that led to many a fun round with friends over the years.
I have been avoiding Pembroke as they keep increasing prices but had some time the other day and got a decent rate of $65 of 18 w/ a cart. Wow was the course beat up and it looks like they are not even making attempts to address it.
Not planning on going back anytime soon with the greens being all jacked up and them trying to price gouge people.
Greens were in a bad spot
I’ve played here plenty of times but have never seen the course in this bad of shape, especially for the price. I counted over 9 previous cup markings on the 3rd hole alone… the greens played like pavement las did most of the bunkers. You’d expect the fairways to be n mint condition considering it’s always cart path only. Will be taking a break from here.
Over priced
I had the first T time of the day but staff went out before my group (which is fine). But if you schedule the first T time of the day and get there that early, you should not have anyone to wait for ahead of you. Especially if they are not a paying customer. The fairways were in decent shape but the greens were some if the worst I have played on. They were clearly under repair and the pro shop should not be charging full rates. The fringes were down to the mud in many spots and there rough in non existent. You are either hitting off fairway or you are hitting off hard packed dirt and roots. Had a good day, but the value was not there. Not even close.
Way Overprived
from someone who golfs all over MA , this course is extremely over priced. The fairways were dry and hard, the greens were like concrete, the tee boxes had been dug up in some instances and had piles of dirt and grass laying everywhere. It was cart path only which slowed pace of play down. This is the first review I have ever written about a golf course but I must say, overpriced is an understatement. Waverly oaks charges the same price and Pembroke is not even close to a comparable.
Pembroke
Have not played here in a few years not much has changed, but generally course was in good shape, Didn’t realize round would be cart path only which was a bummer. No halfway house open so limited amenities. Nice day on a decent track.
Course superintendent should be spoken to!
Unless you lie and say that you need a handicap flag, it’s not worth renting a cart! The course is essentially cart path only! We got hot deal, so it was worth it, but If not for that, I wouldn’t play here. Superintendent is too stubborn to allow driving on course !
Longer than the yardage
Played this course once before over 20 years ago. Played very long for the yardage then and again this time. Played then from the blue tees now from the white tees. Long holes and very tree lined.
Worth playing. Not a course to expect to score well on but condition was fine,, greens very good.
