Great Proximity To Logan Airport
The tunnel to Boston from Logan Airport was gridlock and we were pushing daylight so we tried Winthrop which is just 10 minutes from Logan. Although it's a private club it's open to the public I think Sunday PMs and Mondays. We played on a Sat evening, nice gentleman took our payment and we headed out, no one in pro shop and just a few groups on the course. So not sure about the Sat evening option but it worked for us. It's just 9 holes but they have different tee configurations for 18. We just played 9, easy to walk, flat course. Fairways and tee boxes could use some grooming but greens were fine. I would not seek out this course to play but if you ever get into a scenario where proximity to Logan is important, this course could be worth checking into, if open to public.
Don’t play here
This course sucks! They are a private course but worse than most of the public courses. For example, fresh pond golf course, unicorn golf course, Braintree, Newton commonwealth are all significantly better than this course. This is more like Leo J Martin but 9 holes . If you buy 18 you are gonna do the same awful 9 twice. Parts of the course have dead spots, parts have erosion, and parts are just completely unplayable because of the landscape (pot holes). Don’t waste your money.
Monday for non-members is its own experience
So… the course wasn’t beautiful or technically challenging. The fairways were abysmal and even driving your cart over them made you glad you were wearing a sports bra (I usually remove my head covers when I play with a cart and I swiftly replaced them). BUT I got to play by myself, it was totally open so I played two balls, and the greens were shockingly nice considering the rest of the course conditions. Sand wasn’t cement, either and we’ve had rain. But the Monday thing bears thinking about if you don’t care to have course maintenance all around you the whole time. So it’s basically a good deal if you wanna be super casual.
