So-so
Super slow pace. Quite a bit of rough terrain. Huge, heavy excavating equipment operating right by cart path.
What a value
The best bang for your buck in traverse city. Don't play 150 a round to play the other elite courses. Bear as an example. Sure they have nicer amenities or club house but crown is pure gold, amazing course conditions and only about $50!
I have an 8 handicap, the blue tees were a great fun challenge. Course design was clever and beautiful
Really enjoyed the course
Had some plans in downtown traverse city in the afternoon so booked this in the morning. We were really happy with the course. Fun to play and in good condition challenging but fair from the back tees
Course was nice, questions about staffing
It was a nice course. The golf carts don’t have GPS, for $60 a round they should. There wasn’t a starter or a marshal. Pace of play was ridiculously slow because no one was running the show. The 2 members of the staff I interacted with were both very nice. But I probably should have had interactions with more than 2 people considering one of them was the beverage cart operator. Maybe this is a Covid thing, hopefully when the world goes back to normal they address these issues.
The course was very challenging
The conditions were good the course was in great shape the greens were fantastic was a great place to play golf at. I would recommend it to anyone even at the regular price.
Below Average Experience
I was poorly greeted in the Pro Shop, and the “clerk” made me pay 2 TIMES!! I submitted a tee off payment and they told me the money was no charged, and gave me a higher green fee... Was not impressed with the slow pace of play either, there was a 2 cart back up at every tee. The starter was very friendly though, gave me some hints for the course and was respectful. Definitely won’t be returning if I travel back upnorth.
The friendliness and Greens
It played great, the staff was super friendly before and after our round. Stopping inside to grab a beverage and lunch is a must. Awesome little pro shop with quality items. Will come back again, especially with the deals.
Confirmed wrong
Tee off sent confirmation of our booking for 18 holes but when we checked in at the clubhouse, they said we were booked for 9 at that rate. Said it was Tee offs error but when we called them, they would not honor what our email said. So we did not play
Friendly course conditions. Four Tee choices
I've played this course for over 20 years. Each year there's "Something" done for improvement. I believe the back nine was an Arthur Hills Design. Lot's of rolling terrain and some elevation changes. Course conditions of Fairways & Green's are as good as anywhere. Recent improvements to Bunker conditions are welcomed. I expect the Cart Trails to be next area for improvement. When comparing to any of the 4 Public GC's in the area, The Crown is above the rest. Adjoining Restaurant serves Bar Food or Dinners, full compliment of Drinks. Friendly Staff
Great feel
Very nice gold course. Staff was great and even though there was development on the back 9 it didn't take away from the beauty of the course.
Nice course in the Traverse City Area
While on a week long golf getaway with my wife in northern michigan...we decided to try this course while in the Traverse City area, Our tee time was 11AM on a sunday(hot deal from golfnow...and applying a few 10 off vouchers...it was a deal at 19.00 each) and we were not quite sure what to expect for this area on a weekend as far a number of golfers. Since it was after labor day..this particular sunday was not jammed. The pleasant counter guy checked us in and said after a few groups took off we could go...this would be about 20min before our tee time...and so we did. We played 18 holes in about 3:40 minutes..GREAT for a weekend and we were pleasantly surprised. The course was is pretty good shape..in spite of the new home construction going on around several holes...Greens rolled true and were quick...a fair test of ones skills..... One pet peeve of mine is that. alot of golfers DO NOT repair their divots in the fairways or the ball marks on the greens..alot of courses including this one would be that much nicer if some golfers were a bit more courteous. There are some nice elevation changes on this course which my wife likes as much as I do...This course should be on anyones radar when visiting the Traverse City area as it will be on ours ...
Great Course
Played last summer with friends...great layout, good greens and friendly staff.
