Course is in great condition for this time of year
Greens were just about perfect and the fairways were too. It's a challenging test from the yellow/gold tees b/c driver is too much club from the tee box on several par 4s and one par 5. The course features a ton of forced carries. I would highly recommend this course, this time of year.
Shot-shaper's delight!
The course is short, but shots require some real thought, especially from the tee. Expect semi-blind tee shots. I recommend purchasing the yardage book or having a golf GPS app on your phone. Know your safe landing areas!
The greens were large, and the pins could be challenging given the course layout. No big undulations in the greens.
Missing from the tee could spell disaster to your score. There are marshy areas throughout, and give the wind full consideration since the course is adjacent to a bay.
Sneaky fairway bunkers. While the rough was not deep, the grass was "grabby". Do not expect your ball to 'sit up' in this rough.
I only whipped out my driver twice (holes No. 1 and 18 - both par 5s). The par-5 No. 11 begs for a carry of the marsh (~275 yds), but the wind will dictate whether or not you should attempt it. It is a dogleg right after this marsh. If you can make the second shot, it will call for a draw. Just do not lose it right. There is marsh covering the right of the green, and a deep bunker front left.
The course makes you think a bit. Only a handful of fairways are "wide open". Tee shots can play with your eyes a bit, so make sure your alignment is spot on.
Course was in okay shape. It certainly was not in as good of shape as one would expect given it is a resort course. From a pure "golf" standpoint, it is a fun course because you must consider 'the leave'.
If you are a shot-shaper, I think you will enjoy this course.
The Bridges demands accuracy!
Course demands accuracy, not forgiving on bad shots. A plus is distance is not put at a premium like other courses. The bombers hate this place, short accurate hitters love it. Condition of course was good. Worth the reduced rate, not so much at full weekend price. Pace of play was a negative. Had us tee off on #10, no big deal until getting back to #1. They let groups start on #1 which slowed everything down.
Great condition
The course was in great condition although they had just aerated the greens. Only negative was that there were a lot of blind shots to fairways and we couldn't judge where the safe landing areas were. I will not play The Bridges again without someone who knows the course layout.
Love this course!
My husband and I love this course. It is extremely challenging, but we attack it anyway. If you want to test your skills, it's the course to play.
a little down from memories
I've always enjoyed the bridges
great design and challenging
this time the greens were below average bumpy and no consistent roll and the traps were not well maintained
it would have to go down another notch before I wouldn't go there but it's getting closer
Aerated, but beautiful
Course itself was challenging and fun. However, the Greens were aerated on June 8, so the Greens are exceptionally unfair. It would have been nice to see the Aerated symbol on the booking website.
Beautiful, Scenic, Challenging Course
As I was told by the young man in the pro shop, "target golf is required", & that definitely rang true. You must be accurate off the on nearly every hole, or the course can get very challenging(you can easily lose balls if you go just a tad too far left/right), & the same goes for the greens. Has some amazing views, particularly over the water on the front 9. All in all, a very enjoyable experience; can't wait to go back!
Fun and challenging
Great course in excellent condition despite days of rain. I had not played the Bridges since Katrina and was pleasantly surprised to find it even better than before. Only 50 miles from downtown New Orleans we stayed at the Hollywood Casino Resort while there for the Sugar Bowl. The course is challenging though fair with several tees to choose from. Both greens and fairways were in great shape. A definite must play during any visit to the MS gulf coast.
Scenic and challenging golf course
It's not an overly long course but each of the holes offers a bit of a challenge. The name is aptly derived from the many bridges on the course. Walking would be tough as some of the holes follow a very circuitous route. The greens were excellent and very fast (the way I like them). The layout has an excellent variety of long and short holes, forced carries and blast away holes, narrow and wide fairways - in general Arnold Palmer did his usual excellent job designing the course. Some of the holes, especially number 8, were beautiful. It is a good as any course on the MS gulf coast and not as pricey as some of the others. Highly recommend it.
$60 - $70 for a $35 -$40 course
Weekend play...no one at the bag drop...no starter...group of five golfers slowing us down...bunkers not raked...
The Bridges is interesting to play and I would return.
The Bridges is not long from the "whites", but has enough forced carrys and difficult positions to keep you on your toes. The fairways were immaculate and the greens were like new astro turf. Some of the tees were a little rough and some of the infrastructure needs attention--wooden bridges and paths. The staff was very nice with one unintentional miscue. We asked to play as a twosome only. I pointed out that may wife had 2 knee surgeries last year and we may play slower than other golfers would appreciate. The pro shop attendant gave us a tee time alone, but then pointed out that the cart had to be back by 7pm. Our tee time was 3:20. If we had been informed of the cart return deadline earlier, we would have requested an earlier tee time. In order to finish on time, my wife opted to not play the back nine. That was a disappointment.
well kept
this is a very well kept course. greens were nice...a little pricey but this was a great course to play
