A pretty winter day. Photo submitted by geno929 on 01/20/2013
union course
loved the layout of the course. too bad it's closing to make room for a safari. didn't get to play the signature hole cause of time but enjoyed it.
Excellent course
I always enjoy playing here. The fairways and greens are always in great shape. The tee boxes were a bit dry and threadbare in spots. The course has some challenging holes that always keep me coming back, but is also very playable.
It could be better
This course has some interesting holes. Pretty well maintained. The bugs today were out of control - green flies chasing and buzzing constantly! Made for a very annoying day.
People there are great and the course is in pretty good condition.
The worst part of playing here is pace of play. Because the course has lots of hazards and unique holes, new and less skilled players take a long time to get around the course. A four-some really slows things down. The last four times playing here, it has taken 5+ hours to play.
Yardage markers
This is a hidden gem of a golf course. GREAT price on golf now so no complaints. The only recommendation I have is to put visible yardage markers on every hole with accurate distances.
What great course!!
It is one of those courses that surprise you at every turn!! There are a lot off difficult holes in this course so plan carefully, as the wrong club selection might get you into trouble. The greens and fairways are in excellent shape.
A changed course
Walked up, Day seemed to be just like any other time playing Emerald. However, this time wasn’t greeted by any cart attendant, wasn’t directed which cart to place clubs in; this wasn’t much of a problem, I could figure it out. However, after checking in and hopping into a cart to pick up clubs from my car, a loud, barking voice says “would you mind not taking carts from this section?” There were tons of carts out, but I was never instructed where to pull from until being yelled at.
Next was the pace of play. My buddy and I pull up behind 2 threesomes that appeared to know one another. They see our twosome and continue to tee off, which was no problem. The problem was when we would catch up them playing as a 6some, at which point they’d separate into 2 threesomes, only to reconvene further down the track.
There wasn’t a course marshall at any point, nor was there a beverage cart. It was a typical June day in the Midwest, humidity included, and 2 of the water coolers were bone dry.
Overall, it was a decent day, but definitely not the same experience when compared to rounds previously played at Emerald.
I apologize for the negative sounding review, but this was my experience for my most recent round. I’m sure, hopefully, this was just a bad day and isn’t the direction that the course is headed.
Emerald Sparkles
Heard that this course may be destroyed later this year. That would be a bad thing as this course is one of my favorites.
Worst service I've ever had
Everything was great until the 14th hole. Our cart died and i called the pro shop 14 times and left 2 voicemails at 6 pm. The shop isnt closed until 7. We had to carry our clubs all the way back to the pro shop to find out the only person in charge left early for the day. Was not compensated at all and still have yet to hear from anyone. I will not be returning to this course which stinks because i love it.
Resort Golf
Had a wonderful day on the course and can't wait to come and play some more rounds of golf. Since the weather was so nice the course was packed and that is why the pace of play was slower than normal. The person that joined our twosome fit in so well, that he will become another person to join our group for future outings.
Winter Golf
The greens were in good shape and at a very respectable speed for Early march after a pretty tough winter. Since we tee'd off at about 9:30 AM on a cold morning (39*) there was no "pace of play" issues, as a matter of fact we played 27 holes.. Had a real good time!! Donnie Wren
Picture Perfect
Great tee box , fairway , greens good& challenging
Better than normal
When I have played there in the past, it has been on the weekend. On the weekends, there seems to be no control over pace of play. I haven't played there in a couple of months because of this. When I played there Tuesday, it was very good. I don't know if this is something new they are trying, but seemed to be a conscious effort to make pace of play better. I enjoyed my round there and will try them again on the weekends because of this. Hopefully, it will not go back to the "normal" that I know from this course.
Great layout! Fun course.
Pleasantly surprised - good layout that keeps you thinking. In good condition - wish the leaves were blown off the course a little better. Lost quite a few balls just off the fairway in the leaves. Very friendly staff, fully stocked snack bar too. Great course and great price!
Play it more than once
You have to play this course several times to really appreciate it, the first time through it’ll kick your butt and for the end of November it’s in fantastic shape!
Pleasant surprise
I play here often and was surprised at the speed of the greens. They are traditionally SLOW but had them cut lower and they were rolling much quicker then usual. Very enjoyable round.
We are extremely sorry for your experience that you received over the weekend and very disappointed to hear about the service as well. Please contact me via phone or email at smarchand@emeraldgreensgc.com
