About
The Genoa Lakes Golf Club's Lakes Course brings water into Lake Tahoe-Reno golf. It's found on 14 of the 18 hole on the Lakes Course and it's not always nice tame water of staid old country clubs either. Sometimes you'll be shooting over near swamps with tall gnarly grasses poking out of them. That's the Lakes Course.
It's one of the more natural settings in an area known for its nature settings. You'll see cows along the border of the course - and birds will come flying up that you probably can't identify.
Lakes Course is a Peter Jacobsen and John Harbottle III design with rolling fairways, some tight shot openings and good views. It's 7,359 yards of golf with the Carson River and wetlands riding shotgun. It's located in Carson Valley, an often forgotten town, that's right inbetween the big gaming spots of Reno and Lake Tahoe. That makes Genoa Lakes Golf Club a pretty easy course to get to from most of the popular areas in the High Sierras.

great fun course
Fun. Fast greens. Winter conditions. Lots of deer.

CALL AHEAD
Only got chargeed $60 instead of the $75 fee posted...BUT that was the end of the good times. Course is okay. Starter gives you the POSTED pin placement, but you have NO diagram of where they may be after the 1st hole. Cart per GOLFNOW said a GPS came with the cart...NOTHING. Had to find the number yardage numbers or just guess. Slow players ahead playing thier EGOS , not their ability. So it was a slow day. Even the 2 some played Ego. One drive 15 yds, and he hit it out of a hazard (H2o)..Big $$$ must have been on the line. BUT the worst was the AERATED GREENS with a light sanding and the small clumps. This is NOT a LINKS style course as described. regular fringe, rough...just like at home

Beautiful day on a beautiful course. Lush green fairways groomed bunkers and nice greens.
Great course and the weather was perfect.
Good Time
I signed up as a single and was grouped with 3 other nice guys. Great group, very friendly and just a little slower than I am used to.
Got too dark and cold so I couldn't finish.
A nice combination of obstacles and openness for golfers of all skill levels to enjoy
We played this course a few years ago and returned given our 5-star experience last time. And given the pandemic, sadly this course was overly busy and every tee time was booked. That said, we completed our round in 4 hours on the nose, were greeted several times by a friendly cart lady that did her best to make it the most enjoyable experience ever, and the flags were in reasonable places on the green. The golf Gods did visit us and added to the excitement by cranking up variable winds on the back 9, without question, 25 to 30 knots! My hat is off to the grounds keeper who did an amazing job keeping the course in top form. Well done to the staff!
Wonderful Course
Genoa Lakes-Lakes course is a great course. While some thought the course was only in fair condition, we found it to be great.
Even the incredibly smoky air (AQI 0f 165) did not deter from a great afternoon.
Best course in Reno/Carson area
This course is absolutely magnificient!! The layout is great. The setting is not only beautiful but peaceful as well.

greens
I was told that the greens would be plugged 2 weeks after we played. They still had not healed from the last time they were plugged. Many greens were were terrible to put on, especially short puts. Otherwise, the course is great.
