Rio Secco
About
Designed by Rees Jones and Keith Evans, Rio Secco Golf Club in Henderson affords great views of the Las Vegas Strip below as golfers try to find the course's tricky bentgrass greens. Said greens can be difficult to read, and if you find yourself above the hole, two-putts become a real challenge. One of the most talked about holes, the 200-yard par-3 12th, plays over a valley to a large green that slopes severely from back to front. Back pin positions are difficult, but a front location can yield aces as everything seems to funnel to that spot. Rio Secco is also home to the Butch Harmon School of Golf.

Best course in Vegas
Beautiful beautiful course. Great challenge
We agree, Rio Secco is one of the best courses in Las Vegas. Glad you enjoyed the experience, and the challenge provided by the Rees Jones design.
Over rated
Very disappointed. I hear fall the course is in much better shape. Still a lot of cash for a clone of Revere. Maybe I just caught it at a bad time but a lot of cash for a sub pat course.
Our apologies for the lengthy delay. Clone of Revere? Rio Secco was around long before the two courses at Revere. But Revere does an excellent job and there are some similarities especially with regards to the views and setting, so that's no knock on them whatsoever. We're sorry the experience at Rio Secco fell short of your expectations. Admittedly, we weren't in our best shape in late May-June, but we have a new general manager and superintendent who are actively working to elevate the experience at Rio Secco. We hope to see you again in the fall, when the weather is cooler, and when the playing conditions might be more to your liking.
Rio Secco Vegas golf
Love the course it was extremely hot and we played in 4.5 hours needed a little faster pace to avoid some of the heat.
Thanks for the 5 star rating! Glad you enjoyed the experience at Rio Secco, despite the extreme heat. Trick to beating the heat is to tee off early, and finish before it gets overwhelming. We'll see if we can do something about the heat next time you visit with us.
Beautiful course! Very bit but if you tee off early enough you can avoid the heat for the front 9. We teed off at 6:30 am. Very awesome experience
We appreciate the 5 star rating! Sounds like you're a Vegas golf veteran, because regulars know how to beat the heat: start early, finish early. Hope to see you again soon!
Thank you for the 5 stars!
Enjoyed our day
We were welcomed by very friendly staff when we drove into the parking lot. We had just arrived from the airport so they waited for us to unload our bags from the travel bags then were there at our car to load us up on the cart.
We had a noon tee time so arrived early to eat. Izzy welcomed us in the restaurant and provided us with a very welcomed brunch menu. The food was delicious and the restaurant staff was very accommodating.
When we checked in at the pro shop we found we we were getting a $20 discount because of a few greens with some poor conditions. Welcomed, but when we played we only noticed one small area of one green to be bad. Otherwise the greens were in very good condition.
The first seven holes were the most dramatic with significant elevation changes as they cut through the canyons at the higher elevations of the course. It then opened up for a few holes before finishing on pretty parkland style holes with more water in play.
I almost forgot to mention the cart girl. Probably the most friendly and helpful cart girl I’ve ever encountered. She even came by when we were nearing the end of the front nine to offer to call in food orders for us so they would be ready for us when we reached the turn. I’ve never had that happen before.
We went into the bar/restaurant after for drinks where we were once again attended to nicely by the staff, along with our friend from the morning Izzy. The restaurant is huge and very nicely appointed.
We had a slow foursome in front of us who were struggling on the fairly tough course. They finally invited us to play through on hole 11 and our round was quick after that. We still played in less than 4.5 hours.
Wow! Thank you so much for the 5 stars, and for the detailed feedback on your experience at Rio Secco. Sounds like we really delivered the premier golf experience which we're striving for at Rio Secco: excellent conditions for the Rees Jones design, complimented by superb customer service. And we were happy to extend a small concession due to the greens conditions: we know we weren't where we wanted to be, and we thought it the right thing to do. Glad you appreciated the gesture. Hope to see you again next time you're in Las Vegas.
Love this course!
Great layout and only 25 minutes from the Strip. Great staff and course conditions first rate.
Thank you for the positive remarks on Rio Secco, and for the 5 star rating!
First time playing...
What a great place to play. Not super difficult for an 18 handicap. Can’t wait to go back. Green fees are up there but I believe so worth it. Thanks
Thank you for the kind words, and for the 5 star rating! We hope to see you again soon at Rio Secco.
Great course , great staff, awesome layout
Technical but fun. Watch out, driver isn’t always a good idea on this course :)
Thank you for the 5 star rating! You highlight one of the most important tips at Rio Secco: keeping it in play is priority #1.
Top notch! Staff was so friendly, course conditions were excellent. Highly recommended!
Thank you for the positive words on your experience at Rio Secco, and for the 5 star rating!
Sorry to learn we didn't deliver the 5 star experience that we strive for. We hope you will give us another opportunity in the future.
Great course
Staff - first class , friendly , helpful
Pro shop- top notch
Layout is challenging but fair , there a few holes that local knowledge is needed ( first time playing )
The course in general was in great shape except for the greens
They had good speed but were bumpy for the first 5-6 holes until they dried out
Rolled much better then and were quick
I generally play the Pauite courses, coyote springs and TPC course and will definitely add Rio Secco to the rotation
Fun time
Thank you for the 5 star rating! Glad to know we delivered, except for the putting surfaces. We're hard at work addressing the greens and think we're close to a full recovery. Hope to see you again soon.
Thank you for the 5 star rating!
this nice view
first time play this course staff very nice. the green roll a lot you have to land before the green and still roll to the back of the green. we love the first seven hole it great lay out. the rest nothing special. this course surround with awesome houses.
Sorry we didn't deliver on the 5 star experience we strive for. The variety at Rio Secco is what people love about our Rees Jones design: there are six holes deep in the canyons, six in a broad wash, and six others on a plateau. Sounds like you preferred the canyon holes. Hope to see you again in the future.
Howard’s
Absolutely beautiful and challenging!!! Will play again !!
Thank you for the 5 star rating! See you again soon!
We're sorry we fell just shy of the five star experience we're constantly striving for at Rio Secco. We hope you'll give us another chance.
