Washoe Golf Course
About
Founded in 1917, Washoe Golf Course is the oldest golfing facility in Reno. The layout has small greens and tree-lined fairways, but the fairways are wide and flat making them fairly forgiving. There are water hazards and bunkers strategically placed throughout. The mature landscape is carefully maintained with an elaborate sprinkler system that ensures that the course is green and ready for play all year round. Washoe Golf Course also has PGA Professionals on staff to help with individual or group instruction and extensive practice facilities that include a generous putting green, driving range, and a chipping area with practice bunker.

Early season Sunday
Busy, but play was not slowed. Great to see so many young golfers, lessons for the juniors, many ladies and 19th hole open and busy.
Course still needs some healing but for early spring conditions is in good condition especially the greens. Great day to enjoy sun, friends and getting the golf swing back in shape.
This course has a very friendly locals feel.
Check in was easy. Bathrooms were very clean. We were paired up with two other players. They were very friendly and enjoyable to play with. They are regulars and made us feel welcome.
Great day for golf!
Washoe is showing signs of improvements, good to see traps and grass being taken care of, keep up the work!
Great course
For a course in the city it’s well maintained, even with its high volume run thru.
Great day for golf!
Washoe looks alot better than last year. There doing repairs and it's showing. Keep it up lots of history at that course!
Poor
I can’t say anything positive about Washoe right now. The fairways, albeit still dormant, are in terrible condition. There is ground under repair everywhere you look, with no sign of improvement.. The kicker was they had just airated the greens the previous couple days and there was no warning either from the course or GolfPass.
Great but....
Overall a good course for the money. The only problem we had was that coming around the turn, the cart girl came to ask if we could only play 5 holes on the back instead of 9. When we asked why she said because she wanted to go home early. We still had plenty of light left as it was barely past 5. When we tee'd off the 14th she came to us again and asked if this was our last hole. We asked again why and is there a time to have the carts back by as we play pretty quickly and again she said no I just want to go home early. She said she'd grab us hand carts if we wanted to play the remaining holes but she wants our cart to clean and go home early.. we gave up our cart and found she missed a group far behind us and she ended up staying well past when my group would have finished anyway. Just leaves a bad taste when we work all day to have a good time at the course after work but the cart girl can't even work her full shift.
winter challenge
Weather was ok for March and one of the holes under repair (par 5 turned into a par 3). It was cool and wind out of the south east creating a different challenge. Other than the one hole the course was in pretty good shape and keeping carts on path will help keep fairways in good shape even though it slows down pace of play.
A muni gem
Washoe, like many muni courses, gets a LOT of play. Being that it is winter also doesn't help, but for the most part, except for a few fairways or greens, it was in good condition. The front nine is mostly flat and wide and then, when you get to the back nine, it challenges you.
It is always fun to play and is on my course rotation for Reno.
