Great round
Course is in awesome shape. Tee boxes were perfect, fairways perfect and rough was playable. Greens were very fast but rolled great. Always love playing out here.
Xfinity free rain
I got a free round using a xfinityfree coupon glitch. It had just rained here in Charlotte and the I had maybe one or two issues with soggy ground but that was about it. my tee shots went just as normal as they ever do. course played as if it had never ever rained at all. It is a gray cord if you ever get a chance to play it do so
Great course and the staff is very polite, got a 12:04 tee time they paired me with a single and got us out at 11:45, we got done at 3:10 and I shot a 78!! I’ll definitely be back.
Great course
A- for this course , only because we were harassed several times for slow play by a very unfriendly Marshall, even though our 4 some finished in 4 hours.
Spring round
Early spring round and the course shows. Usually in much better condition but doesn’t drain entirely well. It rained Friday, we played Sunday...2 wet days in a week of 65-80° temps I figured it’d be drier than it was. Pace of play was faster than any typical course in Charlotte for a Sunday round and the staff was top notch as usual. Greens were great, fairways and rough were good, 1 bunked was a pond and all others were in good to great shape, but the tee boxes on a good amount of holes could use some love.
Most of the wet spots came short of the elevated greens and between mounds of the fairway, I blame gravity not the grounds crew
Course has a great layout, and staff was extremely friendly and cognizant of guests. Price for golf was very reasonable for the course. Price for amenities was different story...you were certainly aware that it was a resort course.
Course in worst condition ever
Usually the course is well maintained which has always allowed me to overlook the staff’s demeanor. But because of all the rain Charlotte has had there should have been a disclaimer. The fairways were ALL swamps. I was in every fairway or first cut and yet came back to the clubhouse completely covered in mud like I had been camping for a week. They recently took out the showers as well so I had to go to my meeting filthy which is also something I wish I would have been made aware of. Overall I still like the challenge of the layout and the greens are good, but it’s not worth the headaches until they are able to dry out the course to make it playable again
Ballantyne is a great time
This golf course from the white tees is 6143 yards. And it is a par 71. So it plays longer. The fairways are in great conditions. Bring your best putting game, because the greens are fast and very undulating. This is a beautiful golf course to the eye and it is a true test of golf .
Great considering the conditions
Price was a fair price, maybe a little high for the condition of the course (at no fault of the course). Mother Nature has dumped an insanely high amount of water throughout the area yet this course is better shape than most courses at their peak. Greens were a little sandy with no warning online. Don’t take this as a negative review, still a great layout, above par conditions and an excellent staff.
Ballantyne Resort
Course was in great shape. Great value at the rate I got on Golfnow. Would highly recommend.
Excellently maintained and great staff.
The course was in excellent shape. The greens were a touch bumpy but other than that it was pristine.
Great Experience
Course was in great shape, very nice amenities. Tee boxes, fairways, and sand bunkers were in great shape. Greens were in good shape not great. Greens are in good shape for how much traffic the course gets. The range, golf restaurant, and turn house were nice to have out in the course. Pace of okay was slow, course was packed. Overall good experience, I would definitely play there again!
Horrible pace of play
Nice course and layout but pace of play was beyond horrible, on 5th tee box there were three groups waiting to tee off. This is after half and a half to play 4 holes. Called the pro shop to ask for a ranger to come out and speed up play. They did come out it finally got a little better. Course allowed a group of 5 to play in front of us. After 4.5 hours had to call it quits after 14 holes. Nice course but will not come back out until they figure out how to speed up play. If you have 6 hours for a round this is your place!!
Country club experience
Ballantyne hotel golf course is far and away the best daily fee course in Charlotte area. It is a country club experience. Conditions are immaculate, and they have some of the best greens around of ANY area course.
Solid test of golf from the back tees, and a back 9 of 3 each par 3’s, par 4’s, par 5’s is unique and fun. Beautiful views abound, and an aesthetically pleasing layout. Staff was very friendly and helpful, and with a resort hotel on premises, food and drink after the round is top quality.
A tad more pricey than other area daily fee courses, but well worth it. Would recommend this course to anyone.
Great course, slow play
Played this course many times but today the course was slow as can be. 3hrs 45min through 13 holes and we left when 4 groups were on the 14th. The staff totally understood when I expressed our disappointment and handled the situation appropriately. I will definitely go back, but not on a Saturday morning.
Ok course. Grumpy staff, especially Ranger
Ballantyne Resort should be one of Charlotte's best daily fee golf courses. After all, it's surely one of the most expensive. It's just not worth the $$$ in my opinion. Inconsistent greens, awful bunkers, and a staff that makes me want to play elsewhere.
We were told to expect a slow round - they had sold every tee time on Labor Day instead of leaving a break every hour like they normally do even on weekends. 4:45 was what it took and it felt longer.
So it was extra annoying when the Ranger came to us on the 3rd Green and said we were 15 minutes "behind" the group in front of us and that we needed to keep pace. #4 is a Par 3 - everyone wants an open green when they get to a Par 3, right? And when we got to the 4th green the group in front was hitting their 2nd shots on the Par 5.
Next time, elsewhere.
Greens
Greens were wicked fast but enjoyable. Excellent course layout.
