Was My Favorite Course, Until Today
Made a tee time for 4/19 on the evening of 4/18. When I got to the course, an employee I know (Eagle I) asked me if I was playing today, to which I responded Yes. Then another person I do not know said, "We are closed today for a tournament, someone must have their wires crossed. To me, the tone inferred that I was wrong about having a tee time. As I was walking back to the car, another employee I know (Dakota) asked if I had made the time online, to which I responded yes (apparently the course failed to notify Golf Now they would be closed today). I have played Winston Lake at least 70 times in the past year and have always had positive interactions with Dakota and Eagle I, and today was no different. This review is all about the tone and attitude of the third person. Winston Lake was my favorite course in the area until today. At this point, I have no intention of returning any time in the near future.
Never again
Pro shop is empty. Grounds keepers are loud and huddled up near greens where I was trying to putt. Golf cart died on 7th hole.
Fun course
The greens were the only main complaint for me. Some beautiful tee offs and a narrow fairway. On the cheaper end of things and the staff was friendly. Wish they had a driving range to practice on prior to play.
Improvements to Winston Lake GC 2024
I’ve played Winston Lake GC since mid 1980s when Earnie was the PGA head pro. I have always enjoyed playing WLGC because the staff are polite and the course is challenging. There are changes … big differences being made to the course that I believe have and will continue to make it a better golfing experience. Specifically greater attention to sand traps, smoother green surfaces, people always visible working on the course while golfers play a round. The value one receives is one of the best as green fees are rather inexpensive for 18 holes of pleasure!! ⛳️🏌🏼♀️
Winston Lakes GC is a good value.
Great value for 18 holes on a course that continues to improve it’s maintenance.
Definitely worth checking it out!
It’s a really unique older course with a lot of turns and elevation changes. I had a great time playing and will definitely go again.
Had a nice 20 dollar round
Was able to book this on short notice for an early morning tee time and found the course to be in better shape this time of year than earlier in the season. For 20 bucks, pretty hard to beat, really enjoyed being able to get a 7:30 tee time a night prior.
It was ok
Don’t miss the fairway or you lose your ball. Greens are undergoing repair. Cart May run out of juice before you make it back.
greens were a little slow. went through 3 golf carts all ran out of juice,
Winston Lake GC
Course was in good shape. A few greens had repairs, but most were in excellent shape. Leaves were falling and maintence crews worked hard to blow them off all holes.
