Good public course..
Millstone announced this week that it would be closing down at the end of this week..
I really hate this...have always enjoyed playing here. Great friendly staff...
Great course
This was my 2nd time playing this course. I actually played better this time. Great course for the money. Would recommend it to my friends and will be back to play it again soon!!
A local favorite
A nice layout that is reasonably priced and well maintained. Sand bunkers are average and the grass in some fairways could be better but overall a good deal . Staff is helpful and friendly.
A good one to have in your rotation
Nice layout, well maintained. Friendly staff greens and sand bunkers are not perfect but not bad. A fun layout.
Embarrasingly terrible greens
I have family nearby and vome up from Florida once a year and have played this course for the past 3 years. The greens sre terrible with fungal disesse that course management doesn't seem to care about curing. Been this wsy every year for 3 years now. I know very little sbout groundskeepi g, but I know fungicide applied to these greens would go a long way toward maki g them more playable. Just embarrassing. I won't ever be back.
Great course to play
This 9-hole course was a fantastic course to play on. With the GolfNow app I was able to secure a party of 2 to play in this course for just 12 dollars a piece. The course was worth more than this, with the beautiful layout that is in Morristown. The course is great for beginners such as myself, because it does not contain any sand or water hazards. This course also offers the best chance to use all different types of clubs to use. I recommend this course for beginners and moderate playing golfers. Great bang for the buck.
Course is my home course
Only bad thing is we got to the back nine about hole 14-15 and we got rained out due to a heavy storm. We tried to wait it out but it was very bad weather for a few hours. Didn’t get a rain check, but it’s okay still enjoy the course very much.
Course is OK for January.
Not bad course conditions for January, I suppose. But since they didn't have many golfers, they also didn't do much to care for the course. We also could not buy beer at the turn, allegedly due to the attendant not being licensed to sell alcohol, even though the establishment has a license. Tee boxes were OK, and the greens were in better-than-fair condition. But, what can one ask for, golfing in January?
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to review us, Millstone Golf Club, and for the 3 stars. We're sorry to hear the course may not have been in the best shape on the day of your round, and we appreciate your feedback regarding this issue so we may work on any necessary improvements. However, we're glad you received a good value for your round and had a fun time on the course. Thank you for choosing to golf with us, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
Let me begin with saying that Scott the manager was as pleasant as could be. Things really went down hill from there. The rental clubs were provided ( we were visiting family with out our own clubs) were nothing more than a collection of left behind clubs they had ($20). No starter or ranger. We ( a twosome) got stuck behind a fivesome( local ,regular players I suspect) who claimed they couldn`t let us play through because the twosome in front of them was slowing them down and there was no where to go. We played the front nine in just under 2 1/2 hours. They stopped for food at the turn and were a full hole behind that two some
at the turn and still had no intention of letting us go ahead. Very frustrating to say the least. We had to skip 3 holes to get connected with a twosome who were gracious enough to let us join them. The fairways were like rough length grass ,the ball would disappear in the middle of the course. The greens were slow and bumpy also. To be fair it is late season golf so the expectations should be lowered and I'm sure in the middle of the season it is much nicer. Overall it was a great day golfing with my son and all those other things are just inconsequential to the time spent together.
Worst I have seen
I could not believe how high the rough and tee boxes were. If your ball rolled into the ruff just off the fairway you would lose your ball. Spent more time looking for balls in the first cut of rough than playing. Stepping on the tee box you felt or thought you were teeing off from the rough. Most tee boxes you had to find an old club divot to place your ball.
Nice day for golf
Got there a little early and was allowed to tee off early, which undoubtedly saved me over an hour of time because it got crowded later. Most greens had rough patches on them but it was not an issue. The only issue I had was the thick rough. It serves its purpose which was to penalize stray shots but it was so thick if you were even a foot in it, the ball was near impossible to find. End result is slow play as players look for their ball for a long time. Other than that course in great shape and had a blast.
round at new course
Course in very good shape, greems rolling well, almost filled back out after being punched.
Rough greens
All greens are covered with Dollar Spots . Staff said they have been treated with chemicals but they are waiting for new growth. Hard to putt accurately. Like layout of course.
Staff
Had a tee time and when I got there, they told me they had a scramble and need to hurry and play fast. Not sure why they would allow for a tee time then tell you to play fast.
Great course
I moved to Tennessee last year and I've played several golf courses so far. Millstone is my new favorite course. Nice staff. I really like the layout, it's very forgiving with wide fairways and good sized fast and fair greens. It has 6 par 5's as well as 6 par 's and 6 par 4's which makes scoring much easier. It's a really fun place to play. I'll probably play 50 rounds out there this year.
Hi, lsueddie. Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. Your feedback about the course is important to us. We are working to get everything up to par. We have projects ongoing to recovery the fairways and greens. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We are going to escalate your feedback to our team so we can make improvements before your next game. We will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing Millstone Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.
