Gaylord Springs Golf Links
About
The Cumberland River gave birth to the Scottish links-style Gaylord Springs Golf Links, a par-72 golf course that provides 18 testing holes that border limestone bluffs and wetlands protected by the feds. The golf course, designed by the former U.S. Open and PGA Champion Larry Nelson, has collected several distinctions over its days.
The big draw on the Gaylord Springs Golf Links is the signature fourth hole, home to the hundred-plus-year-old springhouse that gives the golf course its name.
After a round on the Gaylord Springs Golf Links, head back to the 43,000-square-foot antebellum-style clubhouse to shop, dine, and take in the views of the golf course.

Challenging Course
Course is deceptively challenging on virtually every hole. Greens in Excellent shape and well protected. Course plays long with little roll on fairways. And, oh by the way, don’t hit outside fairways as shot difficulty sours. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Will be back to play again in 2023.

Worth a visit, great course.
Fun course where you can choose a number of tee markers to play off. Had problem with our carts, however they were all being replaced the following day. Lots of water and bunkers which made it fun. Place of play OK. Issue was carts were Path only, even though ground not wet which slowed everyone down. Would play again, the grounds were well looked after and mowed. Recommend to play.
Excellent conditions considering time of year & recent weather
1st time Playing the course. I played on the morning before flying back to the UK. The welcome in the pro shop was excellent. Checking in, renting clubs, facility to leave my travel bags in safe storage and use of the shower facilities afterwards was seamless. Bar staff excellent.
The course was in excellent condition considering the recent rain and Storm. The greens in particular were running true and fast. Even though some holes look as if it’s wide open, you need to put yourself in the right position off the tee so approach shots give you a good look at the flag.
Very impressed and would highly recommend and play again.
It’s the winter what do you expect
Winter conditions are expected so 2 holes are modified for play while they make the amendments but this was 2 rounds in a row where I had to have my cart traded out due to malfunction. Good news though, they are getting all NEW carts on 3/8/23. Can’t wait to go back I normally love this course.
OVER-PRICED FOR WINTER/EARLY SPRING GOLF
The course is great, however it's way too over priced for this time of year. It's in a low land/river bottom area so lots of fairways and especially around the greens have large areas of the soupy-mud-dead grass mixture. Even if all in the grouping agree you can move your ball a club length...you'll need 10 club lengths in too many places.
Winter conditions
Very good layout, winter conditions with dormant grass, look forward to playing in the summer!
Challenging but fair
Played in slightly chilly and windy conditions. I like the layout, you are definitely rewarded for hitting it in the fairway but don’t often hit it out of play if you’re a little crooked. The greens were in very good shape considering the time of year. Nice variety of holes. Will definitely return.
Go play this gem
Winter rates made the wet conditions worth it. Greens were amazing for this time of year… rolled true and Stimped 10-11 in my opinion. The summer rates are higher but course would be perfect then. Better experience than Hermitage due to the staff friendliness for less money!
Rude golf shop staff
I play Gaylord Springs very infrequently due to less than friendly bag staff and golf shop staff. Played this round with a friend that likes the course. I would not book this course myself. The rudeness of staff has not changed in 3-4 years. I was hoping it might have improved over time but it has not. Staff are not welcoming or congenial and give you the impression they are doing you a favor by letting you play their course. Golf shop staff doesn’t give a welcoming impression and seldom speaks during interaction. Actually threw the cart key on to counter at me. Since the course is affiliated with Marriott, their actions are very disappointing. Marriott management needs to reiterate and retrain the staff in customer service or perhaps replace them. I’ve played over 300 courses across the country and this is rudest staff I can recall encountering. Their actions are also contrary to what I’ve experienced with Marriott as a lifetime Platinum member.
