Back 9 greens are rough
Nice place back 9 greens are a little rough but some interesting holes
Gatlinburg Open
I like this course alot. This round was tough because it was either misting, rainingnor muggy and it was cart path only on a mountain course. I do not remember the rough being as high as it was either. Probably due to the constant rains that had been going on for days preceding our round. Still had fun with family foursome . I was worn out after round with all the hills and walking.. Still in good shape though at 65 years old.
Played Friday morning super busy stuck behind slow group, Saturday afternoon we were the only ones on the course, tough but fun course, do yourself a favor and take the time to play 18 the back nine won’t disappoint!
Great experience
Very nice course challenging but fun . Me and my daughter enjoyed ourselves
Beautiful course!
The front 9 is a great set of holes, but if you want the hole experience you need to play the back 9. If you have any questions, Todd was the answer for us!
Doing a lot of work
Greens in poor condition, doing a lot of work , but honestly, most of the fairways need reworked, have not played in years, poorly managed, terrible fairway management. For the money, , really bad.
Front nine was closed
The front nine was closed which I did not know. When booking it was stated that they were doing drainage and/or renovations. I had to play the back nine twice. Although that made it easier playing each hole twice, I would’ve rather played the whole course.
Terrible condition
After 25 years of coming to Gatlinburg, I was excited to play here for the first time. That was quickly dashed away as we were informed only the front nine was open due to work being done on the back nine. Then we were told due to work done on the front nine, it was cart path only. To walk to every ball all over the hilly course in 85 degree heat was rough. Wish I could get a refund.
Crazy Layout, Poor Conditions
It is a mountain course, so I did not expect level, but this was silly. Blind shots and severely tilted fairways were the norm. The course was undergoing renovations for the irrigation system but nearly every hole was impacted. Why not one hole at a time?
Higher end course, value price
Loved the unique rolling hills of this Gatlinburg municipal course. Wish I had more time to admire the beautiful scenery and challenging holes, but groups were stacking up behind us while we waited on those ahead of us. This was in the middle of the week too. Fanciest carts I've ever seen, though I've only been playing for about 9 months. Would love to visit again and take more time to enjoy it.
The worst golf course in North America
I paid 50.00 and this course was not playable. Almost every hole was under construction. You could only play a few holes. I would highly recommend NOT PLAYING THIS COURSE . Giant piles on mud and dirt on almost every hole. If you can find another course in the area do it.
Dear Mike2805011,
We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us. With our course currently undergoing a major drainage/irrigation project, there are unfortunately areas that will need time to recover. We have posted notices about the irrigation project on all registration sites for which we have access to notify all potential players in advance. We are anxious to finish this project as we know that our beautiful, mountain course will recover and be even better than the pristine course that we have enjoyed in the past. We certainly hope that your travels bring you back to Gatlinburg and the Gatlinburg Golf Course. Feel free to give me a call prior to your next visit. We hope to serve you again.
Best Regards,
Matthew Poff, PGA
