A beautiful design. Photo submitted by idream0fg0lf on 11/26/2012
Great course, easy and fun, well kept. However, unsure if it's because of the time our tee time (6pm) was at, but paid for the full 18 and only was allowed to play back 9. I feel like it should be half the rate we paid for if we're only allowed to play the back 9 imo.
Good Value
Good value. If you're a serious player this course may not be challenging enough for you but for me, an every once in awhile player that has enough problems on my own, I appreciated the mostly forgiving design of this course. Everything was in good shape. Greens were well maintained especially for being in the middle of a historic drought. Not super fast but definitely faster than other Austin courses at this price point. A handful of moderately tight fairways but also a handful of very generous fairways. Staff was very friendly, they got us out right on time, and play moved along pretty smoothly especially for a Friday afternoon.
Cart Path Only Signs
I don’t know why it is cart path only on holes 3 and 8. Those signs have been up for at least 25 years and I don’t see the purpose. The fairways are just like the fairways on all the other holes.
Maybe there was a reason in the day they went. Someone forgot to take them down when the reason was no longer valid. And they became permanent fixtures.
Not Exactly Barton Creek, But A Great Value!
With the temporary shutdown of Roy Kizer, its adjacent companion course, Jimmy Clay is experiencing heavy use, but is managing to hold up pretty well, despite the drought conditions we’re enduring.
Hot summer
Bring your water this. Municipal courses doesn’t provide basic water to drink . Even it’s been over 100 degrees .
100 degree .
This course is FUN and challenging. . Course is in fair condition for Texas summer .
However NO Drinking water at the course.!,,,. Over 100 degree summer! In the beginning was Covid and now what ? If someone dehydrated and pass out has to be on them .
Nothing to do with Covid just being cheap and try to make money on beverages …that’s what I think .,
Great Course, But So Crowded
This place packs as many golfers onto the course as it can. I’ve played here several times bc it’s in close proximity to where I live. The course itself is great, but you’ll be hard pressed to play a round in under 5 hours.
Nice course but some of the staff are no bueno
Called to ask for a tee time and the guy had a horrible attitude and I was mid question and he said “thank you” and hung up on me. Other than the couple of the people that work at the course it’s nice
Meeting other golfers
Always a positive experience playing with other golfers here. I love to golf and it is nice to meet others who are friendly and fun to golf with
Fast Pace
Course was ok. Pace of play was fast prob bc it was so hot. Range was closed, which isn’t a big deal but would of been nice to get an email, text, or smoke signal. Arrived early to get in a few warm swings but wasn’t able too. Amenities weren’t poor just the communication of them being unavailable. It’s the closest course so of course I’ll be back hundreds more times.
Great Value
Really enjoyed the course. Our pace of play was under 4 hours
Solid Muni
Just moved to the area and live near Jimmy Clay. I really enjoyed the layout. Conditions were fair but not terrible. The greens were shag carpeting but hopefully they will get them shaved down. Overall, good bang for your buck.
