Every year my wife has her family reunion in Glen Rose, and the only reason I dont complain is because of the great courses at Squaw Valley. I average 5 rounds for the 3 days we are there and its only because I live in Houston TX that I dont play it more. I highly recommend this course to anyone in the area. Make sure to say Hi to Phyllis in the pro shop because she's the greatest.
I played the Links on Thursday (5-24) and Lakes on 5-25, and found both courses very enjoyable, especially for the price. The hospitality was incredible, and we were actually allowed to tee off well in advance of our scheduled time. Both courses were very playable, with challenges and risk-reward equally balanced. The greens were the most difficult aspect, and kept me from posting scores under par on each course, despite good ball-striking. I will go back as often as possible, despite the 3+ hour drive from San Antonio.
Highly recommended, and a true hidden gem in the golf course community. Many Texas publications rate the Bandit as the best public course, but I honestly liked Squaw Valley's Lakes course better.
