Legend Trail Golf Club
About
When the architect Rees Jones created the golf course at the Legend Trail Golf Club, he created a golf course that brings out the Old West-style air of Scottsdale and a fun and testing golf course with greens made of bent grass. It's a premium golf course smack dab in the Sonora Desert.
The golf course at the Legend Trail Golf Club features broad fairways, diminutive bunkering and tees placed on islands, and has been called one of the Top 100 golf courses by Golf Magazine. The magazine also gives Legend Trail 4.5 stars out of five among its
Best Places to Play, and has one of the Top 100 Woman-Friendly Fairways, according to Golf For Women magazine. Panoramas include local sites like Pinnacle Peak, and a round at Legend Trail Golf Club gives all levels of golfer several different shot-making options.
Golf a late-afternoon round on Friday or Saturday, and head back to the Trail's End Grill from 4 to 6 p.m. for specials on drinks and appetizers.

Another Great Hole Photo submitted by mhinkle on 09/23/2012
Beautiful golf course in the desert, just north of Scottsdale in Cave Creek. I try to play it every time I am in Scottsdale.
Gem
Unbelievably awesome !!!
Unless you never hit an errant shot……..
The course was in great condition having just reopened after overseeding. The pace of play was good. The starter was fantastic in providing an overview and tips for the course (so extensive that I couldn’t remember all of the hints).
However, because the course designer chose to feature the desert and unique challenges on most holes, this round was not enjoyable for myself an my eye wife vacationing here from a northern state and only 20+ handicappers. So unless you have very consistent distance and direction control (both are required here), bring lots of extra balls and a very resilient attitude.
course ready for reseeding , fairways and greens playable so it was good round
Nice but tight
Just played this course for the first time. Highly recommended by some friends. It’s a decent track but quite skinny in places, and many of the holes require a hefty carry over desert bushes. The back nine is more fun (and challenging) than the front. Nothing particularly wrong with the course, but it’s a bit overpriced in comparison to some of the other equally nice courses in the area, like Dove Valley Ranch or Rancho Manana.
Worth the trip
It’s an hour from Gold Canyon but I really enjoyed the course. Take someone along who’s been there before. We had a 1:15 and it took five hours but the course was in nice shape. Good warm up practice area.
The course is getting ready for reseeding , crew was out on every hole chopping etc. we enjoy the round
Don't Waste Your Time or Money
Some of us have lives that we actually enjoy. I get it, a lot of golfers don't mind wasting 8 hours to play 18 holes but this was ridiculous. I went in to the clubhouse after the front 9 took more than 2 1/2 hours and the staff didn't even entertain a discussion about a 9 hole rain check. Then, when I called the clubhouse about slow play, they seemed pretty annoyed that I even called. Unless you live within 10 minutes of this course, don't bother.
