Slow go but decent for the dough
Have played here a few times. Decent bang for your buck but no matter always more than a 4.5 hour round. If you haven't played this course before it's a very standard course nothing to crazy. Greens were in decent shape and fairways still holding on for the winter
Very well maintained, slightly pricey
I thought the conditions of the course were great. I played early morning to the greens were still pretty wet which made them slower. Pace of play was not an issue, as many groups let me through because I was playing solo.
Course layout is pretty straightforward; it all makes sense, straight fairways and no doglegs. For the average player it's probably a fairly easy course. Because I am a beginner I still hit many over-pars.
My main point of critique would be the price; I recently played Wente for only a few bucks more and in all fairness, that course is a few steps up from this one.
Pace of play
Took over 3 hrs to play front nine. Two groups of 5 delayed play and no marshals to speed up play. Quit after nine holes.
Great Service!
I’ve played this course a few times and it is always in great shape!
I play late mornings and early afternoons, so the pace of play is excellent!
The restaurant on site is always full of good beer & great food!
To me, the difference this time was the service. It’s always been ok, but this time the two gentlemen working in the pro shop were excellent! They went out of their way to be polite, friendly & courteous!
Great day at Diablo Creek!
PAR
No short par 4’s, 2 good shots needed, fair course
Worst Golf Experience Ever
This was my worst golf experience. The course was actually in fair shape. However, the pace of play was the worst ever. We had a tee time for 10:32am on Oct. 14th. The course had a high school tournament scheduled for 8am that day - 120 teen age girls (all good golfers). Their shotgun start delayed our tee time by 30 minutes. OK, I can deal with that. However, they had booked tee times for 10:30, 10:32, 10:34 and 10:36. No way that can work. The front nine took 4 hours. The back nine took 3. We talked to some locals who play here frequently. They said this is common at Diablo Creek. There were no marshals evident to help improve the pace of play.
Will we return here? NO WAY.
Perfect Round
The course was in great shape, even the Tee Boxes have been re-seeded!
The pace of play was excellent and everyone was very friendly!
Birthday golf
Could’ve played anywhere in the bay area for my birthday I chose Diablo Creek golf course because the course is always in good shape
Just not my course
My friends love Diablo Creek and I don't.
First off, no fault of the course, but consistently I have played with odd people, who do things that ruin the game for me, i.e. stepping in my line, driving up to the green when I am in the fairway and playing a shot while I am plying my approach, etc. I get it that the course can't control that, but it has happened a few times, so much so I am turned off on the course to a degree by that.
The course itself is my barometer for how I can handle long courses. The course has some obstacles, but 12-14 of the holes are the same long holes with a bit of shot shaping, but mostly this course is about distance. You will need to maximize your distance to get the most of the course.
The notable holes are the seventh, a water shot with a wedge that has a view of the road. I am fond of the par 5 3rd, a long par 5, often into the wind and the tenth hole which is a risk-reward short par four with a forced carry to a false front green.
The greens are good, and the course plays well. It just is simply robot golf. Hit the ball long and aim, the shots are pretty apparent and few creative options.
Worst. Conditions. Ever
Came through golfnow which listed the conditions as "aeration". played thru that many times and been satisfied. Many, though not all courses reduce fees during that. Here is what I walked into. A course with signs on the pro shop door...saying half the course was closed due to maintenance and the other half in total dis-repair and nearly unplayable. This was not "aeration". They should have closed the course for a week and done what they needed to do. After that experience, I'll never play again and suggest to the tournaments I play in there to choose other places. The course had a stench of manure on every hole. Mud in the middle of the fairways which perpetuated the stench. It was like playing in January after a drenching rain...except that I would have known that. The pro shop tried to blame golfnow...which has its problems...but course maintenance isn't one of them. I asked the pro shop to refund my money before playing as this was not anywhere near expectation...and they refused...saying GN wont refund. I explained to them, this is not GN problem and that if they want any chance of me returning, THEY will refund my money. The poor kid behind the counter didnt know what to do. A truly horrible experience. Perhaps the worst in many years at any golf course.
Fun track
Played Diablo Creek for the first time this last weekend in the Concord City Amateur tourney. Tournament was well run by the staff and I enjoyed the course layout. Some challenging long holes on the front nine which weave around a couple lakes. Back nine is more tight and treelined. Course condition was decent. Some really wet spots for some reason and the greens were typical public muni course quality. I will come back next year!
It's always in good shape and the staff are great .
Sully
Great time this morning! Big thank you to Morgan in the legends bar and grill and her assist with the breakfast burritos and great service. Also a big kudos to Lenny in the pro shop, he has always been so solid and runs a great business. I and our group will continue to come back, keep up the good work guys and ladies
Great track!
This course for the amount of play it accommodates is hands down a great track!! Staff is friendly and it doesn’t break your wallet! If you want to test your game, great value!
No character
Course is too flat for me. I like elevation changes. No or very little water on the course
