Great course only on slow days
Members and staff are rude if you are a beginner and take your time on the course. Course was way overbooked this day and we were very rushed, had to pick up on 4 holes - martial kept following us in a cart. Not very hospitable and welcoming. Go on slow days - fun course and very forgiving. Great facilities. Course pretty well kept.
Nice Track
Rio Pinar is a really nice golf course. My expectations were not high because of the moderate rating. I give this course a solid 4.5. It's not Shingle Creek, but it's not far behind. For the money we paid (which was one third the cost of Shingle Creek, Disney, Champions Gate...), I am extremely happy. As Arnold said.....I'll be back!
On It's Way Back!
Great to see the new owners putting in the effort to restore this course. It's in decent shape, though you need to stay in the fairways. If you get a little wide, current conditions make it extra penal.
Greens are good, though slow. Range and practice area should be solid in about another month (Top Tracer range currently being installed).
Clubhouse is still one of the great features of this course, with arguably one of the best bars of all Central Florida golf courses.
Old Course being revitalized.
Course seemed to be fine. The condition issues we encountered were being addressed. I would consider playing there again in hopes it may be better.
The course was OK.
The course was wet so very little roll. The first hole was not available for play due to maintenance. The tees were a little patchy and the greens were a little slow. The course has a good layout. Maybe on a dry day it will play better. Got a Hot deal so it was cheap to play
Mr
Course was a pleasant experience. We played as a twosome and had no delays in our 3.5 hour round. I will definitely be back.
Classic layout with lots of PGA and LPGA history, the Citrus Open.
The club has lots of memorabilia of Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicolas, Gary Player and many moregreats of the past. Lots of money and work are being invested and made 5o bring this venue back to its former glory. The greens were good and the fairways were patchy in some areas. I love 5he layout. Very challenging. 8 will be back.
Decent Course
The course is in decent condition and layout is good. The greens are fast and predictable. Pace of play was on the slow side and I did not see any marshal trying to urge the slow players. I can see new electronic equipment being installed in the driving range. The apparently new clubhouse is beautiful. This course certainly looks like many improvement are in progress. Will certainly play here again when I can take advantage of a Golfnow hot deal.
Worth it
Given the history, fun course to play. Grass was a little thin and lots of improvements going on. The historical photos in the clubhouse were fantastic. Greens were decent
Bad tee time management
I arrived and there were 10-15 people waiting for carts. My tee time was in 15 minutes and I was told there was a “slight back up.” The slight backup was really an hour behind schedule and it was already 3:30. It would have been nice to receive a call letting me know about the delay, so I could cancel before driving 25 minutes each way. They need to book their tee times further apart. Every hole was slammed.
Enjoyable
Good round here. Friendly staff. Lovely club house
Great round
Played 26, first 18 was a little slow, last 9 was more my speed. Greens were in pretty good shape, better than North Shore 2 days earlier. Good bit of construction on the range. Great local course.
Improvements are making a difference.
I first played this course a year ago and it needed a lot of work. A few of the greens back then were in abominable condition. Now the greens are looking good, and the course overall is much improved. There were maintenance teams working on many of the holes while we played, and the new ownership definitely wants to make the course attractive and to keep it well maintained. The improvements to the driving range need a few more weeks and then it will have tracking capabilities. Greens fees are a little stiff now, but sadly in line with other courses.
