pratice round
If all you what is to go out and hit the ball, it's a place to go. Tee's, fairways and greens were poor at best. It was hard to find a place it hit from on the fairways.
But for $20.00 in season what can you expect.
Will play again for value
Red and Blue course is very playable but the White course needs some maintenance. Despite following a group of league players we completed the White course in two hours and then followed this on the a Blue course in just over 1 hour.....no delays.
Would definitely play again!
Had a great round! Good course, especially for the affordable price! Course was rather short, which helped my score, so no complaints there! I'll be back
Terrible
Would have had more enjoyment playing at ole Mc Donald's farm. My first and last.
ok for the money
Fairways in poor condition, driving in a very dangerous location almost got hit with a ball, very well located in the middle of the city and easy to get to.
needs tlc
COARSE COMMING BACK NEEDS TLC. SHOULD BE ABLE TO BOOK FOR TWO FOURSOMES ON GOLFNOW
nice courses
Greens were nice, fairways were wet , not sure why, also fairways need work, we played lift and place.
Friendly staff, had a great lunch there and met nice people.
Would prefer red course over white. White course had 4 par 3s. Red was more challenging.
The course is worth the price.
Friendly and helpful staff. Fairways could be improved along with some of the greens.
course sat vacant for years but is coming back to life
don't get me wrong some fairways and some of the cart paths need repairing but the tee boxes and greens look great. greens a little thick (may have been a day or two since mowed) and a little slow but honestly look like it was astroturf but it was real. they have 3- 9 hole courses we played the red for the front and the blue for the back. some dirt spots in fairway but kicked it over to some grass and hit it again a couple of tricky holes with double doglegs make you think a little. will be playing here again for sure. cant wait to see it in probably a year or 2 hopefully restored back to where it was in its hay day. they also have a nice driving range and putting green
Lay-out
We liked the lay-out very much.We saw big gators on 3 ditterent holes.
old course trying to come back
Drainage is nonexistent but probably is playable in dry season. Rained hard stopping play and flooded car paths and the course. Cart stalled, waded through knee deep water walking back to parking lot.
Up and Coming
I've been playing this course almost everyday this summer, and have watched the hard work the management has put forward to improve this course. They have been battling rain all summer, which makes it impossible to maintain the course the way would like, but they are all over it when they get a little break in the weather. I am able to play golf whenever, and where ever I'd like, but choose here mainly because of the staff, and I see the hard work they are doing to bring this course back. One thought...more ball washers.
Something to say about restoring a Golf Course after being Dormant for 5 years
I hate to see what was once a nice golf course be abused like this after 5 years of being dormant. 18" Fairway Grass was more suitable for a Safari Rhino Hunt than a Golf Fairway. But alas! The American Golf Club is coming alive. The Golf Manager is putting his best foot forward and trying to restore it back to playability. There close but still needs work on Fairways and Tee Boxes. Just use your imagination and close your eyes and you can see that back to 20 years ago or so, this course was a Jewel. So folks, if you have a certain part in your Heart for a Course that's trying Hard to get a healthy heartbeat , this is the one that needs your play! Give it a shot. The price is right. ((Cheap). Great Hambugers and cold Beer too!
A work in progress
I've seen this course along the road into Vero for years and I will admit that at times it looked pretty bad. It looks like the might be trying to fix the place up.
The course is made up of 3 9 hole courses, the red, blue and white. I played the white and the red. I'll start by saying that the greens for the most part were phenomenal. They were not that challenging, but they were very well maintained.
The white course could use a lot of work. Large sections of the fairway were sand or hard dirt, no grass. In places there was almost no distinction between fairway and rough. The cart path degrades to almost nothing except scattere sections of blacktop in spots. The ninth hole runs along the driving range coming back into the proshop and balls will be coming right at you if you play to the right.
The red course was much better. It still had nice greens, but the fairways were In much better shape. The tee boxes could use some work but they did the job.
The carts did have a gps system, very basic compared to most courses in the area but it was programmed well and provided mostly helpful info.
I got a deal that was too good to pass up, but I would defiantly NOT pay full price. I would probably play again to try the blue course but I don't think I'll play the white course again for a while.
Great layout. Greens in great shape. Condition of rest of course is aweful.
We played the Red/White course. The tee boxes were in rough shape. There was no fairway to speak of just different variations of rough grass and bare, hard-packed dirt. This made your stance at the tee a little challenging and your second shot very difficult to play. There was no real advantage and often a disadvantage to keeping the ball in the fairway.
The layout of the 2 courses is very unique. There are 3 par 5 holes. three par 4 holes and 3 par 3 holes on the Red course. There are plenty of trees, hazards and bunkers to make things interesting, so I give the course design a big thumbs up.
The White course is short, with only 1 par 5 and 3 par 3s.Again, it makes you play smart golf.
The greens are brand new and are in really good shape. The hold the ball well. They were a little slow when we played, but they rolled true and are angulated just enough to fool you.
Over all, I like the course, but it needs far too much work in the fairways and tee areas. If and when it gets in shape, it will be one of my favorite courses in the area.
Not a very good experience
The course is not well maintained, several sandy spots on most fairways. The greens weren't mowed. We play the white and the red and they both need attention pronto.
Showing signs of improvement, need's lots of work
Overall, I enjoy golf, so for me it was just ok, however, it generally was in poor condition with very slow and bumpy greens. I do understand it is in a comeback period, so I will give it another try later. The price needs to be kept low to ensure return visit's. On a lighter note there was interesting flora and fauna, with a couple of gators to keep my attention.
great value - course in time will be top notch
This course has come a long way but still needs work on the White course and on most of the fairways. Needs trash containers on the t boxes. We had to carry our trash all the way back to the clubhouse. Greens on Blue and Red courses are excellent. Great value at the golfnow am pricing. Unable to correctly rate course difficulty and staff friendliness as both should be medium which the chart would not let me check.
Good practice course. Forgiving
Needs tp grom a little more. Greens need help. Finding your way around the course not easy
Just starting to play again and isd a easy course and close to home.
Greens are in much better condition than last summer. They are fixing a lot of things and with 3 9 hole courses you can get around pretty fast.
There has never been knee deep water anywhere on this course, and the parking lot has never been flooded. Don't make up comments because you had a bad round.
