Worth a try
We have golfed here a few times in the spring so the conditions are not always ideal due to the season. It is a fun course to play with some interesting holes.
Looks good from the highway but the back holes are rough.
I have played here a few times over 5-6 years. The holes that are visible from the highway are usually in ok shape but the rest of the course is rough. Practice range and putting greens are always excellent. Layout is tough and every time I play here it seems to be in worse shape than the prior round. Greens need work and the fairways throughout the neighborhoods are in pretty bad shape. It could be a challenging and fun course if better maintained.
Long and narrow, but a fun course.
Henderson has gone through quite a few changes, and recently the amount of work that has gone in to it is paying off and showing. Overall the course still lacks in a few places, but I think the grass and such will grow in nicely soon. Great job turning this place around so far!
County doing good
I like this course. Great value especially using golf now. Played it four times now and starting to figure out the best places to hit the ball. (Keeping away from water is a clue) lol. Nice upkeep. Greens were good today.
Henderson Coarse Conditions
No complaints with the Pro Shop staff, but the coarse was in very bad condition. Fairways were horrible and greens looked like they hadn't been cut in a couple days. I would only recommend playing this coarse if it was the only place you could get a tee time, and would definitely not recommend playing from the tips. Tee boxes were mostly sand with very little grass.
Definitely not coming back.
Maybe a decent course in the past. Pace of play was fine, most likely due to the fact that people already know not to play this course. Too many other good options in the area to waste time and money here. From tee to green the course was in bad shape. Left after 9 despite paying for 18.
Potential but neglect abounds
Have played course numerous times, but the last three rounds the course has gotten worse. Fairways undefined, grass brown, sandtraps unranked and low on sand, no water in ball washers, just an overall neglect of what the course has been in the past. The greens were the only aspect that garner's attention.
February Golf
I don't like to pay a lot for a round of golf. So, for $25, I don't expect much. Fairways are sparsely grass covered; sand traps not raked and cart paths are atrocious. One good thing is that most of the drainage issues are gone.
needs some work
I've played this course three times this year. The first time in early spring things seemed to be better. I understand the county has taken the course over from the prior operator. It appears the prior operator had let things go for quite a while. While the greens were good with full grass cover, it appeared kind of fuzzy like it needed mowing and they were pretty slow. Tee boxes are ok. Many of the fairways have Bermuda grass which is dormant, however I think the entire course needs a top dressing of fertilizer. The fairway grass is almost non existent in may places and it makes it difficult to hit a good fairway wood or even an iron in many lies. I enjoy the layout but the fairway grass needs to be fertilized and perhaps by next spring it will come back thicker and make for a nicer overall round. Greens need to be mowed a little closer also. I'll come back again to play but hope they continue to make improvements. There are other courses in the area which will be more appealing if things do not improve here more than they have so far.
Finally Looking Good
This course is near my home so I have played it fairly often. I played it a few years ago and it was in terrible condition. The greens were weedy and not consistent. This last trip was a step in the right direction. They have put a lot of work into the greens. The fairway grass is dormant and cut close, so a worm burner can roll a long way. The sand traps suck. Not raked or kept up; rocks or standing water in most. The rates are good. Oh yeah, you might want to bring some chips because the snack bar is almost always closed.
Needs work
The course was not in good shape no grass on fairways in the pro shop it looked like they were going out of business. The greens were good but I would not recommend this course.
This course is a great tract
This course fell on some hard times. I was contemplating not renewing my membership and playing somewhere else. In September Chatam County re-took control of the course. In a few short months, the staff has done a great job of getting the course back in shape. We sponsored a outing there this past weekend and everyone was very impressed with the progress that has been made on the course. I have never seen this course in its prestine condition, but if the County continues on its present pace it will be there again. Keep up the good work.
Fun course
Nice layout thru woods and water. Fun to play.
good enjoyable round
course in much better shape than in may, greens in better shape only 2 greens that had problem areas fairways in better definitely worth the money, cart paths a little beat up but you can manuver
