Pretty good course payed less than a dollar a hole.
Probably the best course I've played around here and a great deal for the money in decent shape and good views too. Will be playing again, played 18 with a cart and got a hot dog for like $17-18.
It is early in the year. It will be much better as the year goes on. The staff is very friendly.
I will play it again. The course is not spectacular but we enjoyed it.
Poor conditions and even poorer pace of play
I wonder if the folks running this course have ever had any training in golf course management. First of all, the place is a dump. From first entering the pro shop, to trying to access the putting green, I noticed there is just discarded stuff piled everywhere. It was rather disorienting. There was actually a starter, which usually is a good sign. In this case, it was not. They were sending folks off of #10 which is a blind shot over a hill. When I asked the starter when we should hit he said "Just go when you can't see the group in front of you." Obviously, there are two immediate problems with this. The first is, we could possibly hit into them -- from the forward tees, the blind spot was at only about 175 yards. The second is that they sent groups off too quickly. This became readily apparent when we reached the second tee and there were THREE groups WAITING at the tee. I called the pro shop and explained the situation and the kid there said "Oh, cool." ??????? No. It's not cool that you have three groups waiting on your second tee.
The course itself was in horrific condition. The greens were just ugly. I know it's very early in the season, but I can't imagine these greens improving. Also, the course signage was difficult to follow and the cart paths were actually too numerous and complicated!
Even for the low, low price I paid for our tee time, I would never go back to this course.
Looks to be coming back around
This course used to one of my favorites in the area. The set up is very unique and there are some great views. The greens used to be well maintained and super fast, but over the last several years the course had really been let go. From what I hear ownership recently changed and after playing there last weekend it seems like they are dedicated to getting it back into top condition. The greens were still pretty bumpy and slow and some of the bunkers could use some more sand but everything else is coming along. At the rates they are currently offering I would not hesitate to play again even without improved conditions.
played in the snow
played with snow on the ground course was great for time of year
Beautiful day on the course.
Everything was a bit damp, but for just coming out of the cold and the onslaught of weather, the course was in decent shape. Some work is needed around the greens, but otherwise the course was well-maintained.
As the course is compact, the signage could be updated and improved, but all in all, a nice afternoon of golf.
Interesting layout
This course is very senic and has many challenging holes. I am a senior golfer of average ability and played from the white tees. The result was that some of the par 4s were out of range to reach in regulation. Most of the holes offered challenges because of terrain and/or strategic obstacles.
The one negative was the condition of the greens where I frequently encountered bumps along the path to the holes. This could be related to the time of year-mid-november-and the type of summer weather we have had this year.
Nice course with great value but could be better
Nice course which is rarely busy. Very good value. My only complaint is several sandtraps are grown over with grass. Could be a much more challenging course.
excellent course and well kept greens
Course is challenging and great fun staff is very friendly and attentative
This course has a great layout
Really liked the course fairways and tee boxes were in pretty good shape but the greens needed some work
Nice course, but would like to finish
I had a good experience on a crisp fall day at Deer Run. The only problem was that we had a later tee time and we were stuck behind many other groups causing us to finish the front nine extremely late. As much as we tried we could not finish the course. Other than that the course is nice and the staff is very friendly.
Very good greens - quick roll nicely
Course is being worked on, fairways were nice, it is getting to be fall, greens were great. Tight on some holes, fun. Value for the money was great due to my paying $ 13.00
The above 5 options for course review only work on 3 spots, that needs some attention. These 5 bars need work.
Nice Course!!!
I have played this course a few times this year, well maintained. This has been a brutal season for a golf course. The maintenance crew has done great job keeping this place in good shape. Nice challenge for all skill levels.
Keep up the good work!!!
Beautiful layout but needs a lot of work on the greens ,parts of the fairway & carts paths
Good deal but thats what it needs to be considering the conditions.
if in good condition it would be a great course9/7/2012
course in poor condition. greens very poor. Could be great course if in good condition
Cheap, but still a waste of money
Way overbooked and "requires attention" is an understatement for the course conditions. Absolutely horrible.
not crowded, nice condition, Very nice staff
nice course , not crowded at all , the course is in great condition , the staff are very friendly and helpful
Best Value
I recommend playing this course. I played right after they aerated and slice seeded and some areas were pretty burnt up from the heat. But once that is repaired this will be one awesome course.
Needs work
It had been over a year since I last played this course. For the price, its a great value! This use to be a country club, im guessing due to lack of membership it is now a public course. Fairways were burnt up, but the greens were in great shape! Talked with the grounds crew and they said they are putting a lot of work into trying to get the fairways back and they think the course might be sold soon.
A great track. Lovely layout.
Back nine in much better shape than the front (not sure why). Fairways on front nine were burnt and rough. Greens throughout ran true and were receptive and fair. Love this course design and would play more often if I lived closer to the course.
