Rocky Point Golf Course
About
Rocky Point Golf Course has one of the most interesting histories of any golf course in Florida. Originally opened in 1911 under the name f the Tampa Automobile Club, it was one of the first courses in the state. It closed in 1942 due to World War II. After being turned over to the city of Tampa for a mere $1, it reopened in 1954 as Rocky Point Golf Course. It is the closest golf course to Tampa International Airport, only a 15-minute drive away. The layout provides a fair challenge water hazards coming into play on 11 holes and sand bunkers strategically placed throughout. Rocky Point Golf Course's lakes are home to an abundance of wildlife and also serves as a bird sanctuary.

Enjoyable Florida Golf Experience
Course was in good shape, cart girl came around regularly and manageable difficulty for average level golfers. All the makings for a good day, aside from the whiners behind us who seem to think just over 4 hours to play a round in peak season is too slow. Relax fellas, you’re not that important and maybe you need a new hobby.
Snowbird
I usually play this course twice a week. There are some deals on the internet that make this course very affordable.
I will play here again.
Average course, overpriced and slow.
Bought this noon tee time for a single golfer. Got there and course felt way overbooked. Was stuck behind large groups and was too slow for my taste as a single taking 2 hours and 30 min for 9 holes is unacceptable. I left after 9 holes because the 10th tee had three groups stacked to go out when I made the turn.
Rocky is a good course for the money
Rocky Point is getting a lot of play and the fairways show that. The greens seemed to be in decent shape and played well. Its a good course and typically the pricing is reasonable. Its getting close to 60.00 a round now and I would say that would be top dollar for Rocky Point.
The staff are nice, helpful people. The greens were in great shape. Not so much for the tee boxes and not the fairways. But, it seems to be typical of a Florida course in the area in March. Use this time to work on my game and enjoy being out golfing. If you want serious game, would not suggest playing most public courses in this area in March.
Restrooms on the course are very important to ladies and I'm happy to report that they were very well kept and clean.
Rocky point review
Nice course well maintained no ranger to speed up play and a little pricey otherwise something challenging course very open
Nice Par 3’s
Enjoyable game at Rocky Point - welcomed by a friendly starter who paired us with a single which helped pace of play as it would have felt even slower as a twosome. Courses really should increase time gaps within their booking systems. Some recent reviews had not looked encouraging but not sure why as course was really good for time of year. Greens were lovely, smooth and quick enough to be testing. Plenty grass on fairways which is all that matters. One or two quirky holes where it is tough to judge placement of tee shot to avoid hazards but otherwise very enjoyable and would recommend!!
sheep pasture
Tees all beat up .Fairways sheep pastures .Some greens in great shape but strange some greens where super fast and others are soooo slow .Overall not in my top 50 courses .I've played well over 1000 courses and I would put this course # 552 not good in my book .
You need to speed up to the folks in FRONT of you. You are the issue not the players behind you.
