Best conditioned course
This was the best condition course I have ever played. Was far superior to even Seaside on St Simons. Unfortunately it is typical of a Southern Georgia or Florida course. They did use water and sand traps to make it interesting. No elevation changes being on the coast. They did have some long and challenging par 4's, and the par 3's were fun. The staff was very friendly and the grill had good choices for lunch and beverages. Would play it again.
Nicest course I have played in Savannah area.
I am new to Savannah area and I have not been impressed by the courses I have played so far. This course however will be one I play often, very scenic, excellent fairways, greens and tee boxes. I like the old course feel with the large tree lined fairways that were not too narrow but did require a decent drive to stay out of trouble. Lots of water but not over bearing where you feel pressure trying to avoid. Staff seemed friendly and the range balls were a welcome surprise I did not expect that and the range was in really good shape as well.
Excellent value with a good GolfNow discount I will be back often.
Iconic Donald Ross Track
Felt like going back in time playing this 1926 design. Visited and played with a member who couldn't have been nicer and helpful around the course. In tip top condition!
Beautiful Golf Course
This course was in excellent condition with immaculate fairways, smooth bunkers and great greens. For the money I don't think you can find anything better
Very nice...
One of the finest courses I've played. Savannah is lucky to have such a fine course..
Come play and see..!
Tip Top
I don't get to play as much as I would like to. Playing this course was such a pleasure. I can't wait to go back.
Old course
Old course with nice setup. Wide fairways to target small greens protected by sand bunkers. A short course for big hitters.
A hidden gem
Nice course , Challenging and fun to play!! Drives need to positioned properly to ensure angle into well guarded but receptive greens !!
Great layout, enjoyable setting
Really nice layout requiring disciplined shots. The fairways are welcoming. The greens need work though. Facility is nice and I would play there again. I will also take visitors there.
nice course
I would like to say only positive things about the course but one thing clouds this picture, the "blitz" locals games have priority on the visitors tee time. not ok with me.
Beautiful Course
Not especially challenging but a beautiful course. Definitely worth the trip. I would highly recommend this course. The average golfer will enjoy the playability of this course.
Pricey
I played this course in February. The course was not in the best condition. If I played in April, it might've been worth the $80 that I spent. There are WAY less expensive courses in the area that are equally challenging.
Decent course, but not worth the rate
Decent course. Greens were very good. Donald Ross challenges on reading. Decent condition. Not worth the rate I was charged. For a fee of $40-$45, worth the money. Rate was $75 day I played. Not worth that much. Pace of play was SLOOOOOOW.
Old style country club
Played too early, dew on the fairways stopped the , ball so it played long very flat but lots of water carry's to make up for it. The clubhouse was spectacular for a club built in 1927. Worth the visit after the drive to it made one suspicious due to the age of the condition of the surrounding housing. Worth a repeat if drier conditions
Great Course!
Even though it's not located in the center of Savannah area, easy to get the course from interstate. It's little bit windy bc it's near to the coast. Well maintained course.
Great value
Golf course was great. Really enjoyed the experience.
Best course in Savannah
This course was great. Staff was very friendly, practice facilities included everything you could ever need: range, bunker, putting green. The balls are included in the round. Pace of play was slow, but nothing that would deter me from going back. If you're driving from Savannah, it takes longer to get there than you think. A bridge is down nearby so you've gotta go around it. This is the best course in Savannah/Pooler for the money.
Good Course. Worth the Hot Deal price
I play this course all the time. I only get the Hot Deal price @ 1:20 on the weekends for $36. Every thing else is at least $55. Its a great course but can be challenging. The back half of the front 9 (6,7,8,9) is one of the harder stretches I've ever played. The course is pretty long too. If you can bomb it off the tee, prepare to be using a long iron on just about every par 4. Great course though.
A wonderful old course
This is one of the older courses in Savannah. It is flat (it's on an island!) but well designed (of course, being a Donald Ross course) and challenging. Greens are typical Donald Ross (small & undulating) and they were in terrific condition - real fun to putt on. Because it is an older course you don't have the long green to tee treks that are typical of newer courses; therefore the pace of play is excellent. You will enjoy playing this course.
missing the Superintendent
This coarse is great ,too bad it's quickly falling into disrepair. Don Hemerly is sorely missed ,the coarse is crying for MAINTENANCE.!!!!!
